Installing and Setting Up Foresight Analytics Platform

Foresight Analytics Platform contains the main interconnected components:

The use of software based on Foresight Analytics Platform includes a number of requirements and conditions that must be considered on software procurement planning and on application systems development.

Planning Installation

Before installing Foresight Analytics Platform follow the installation planning stages:

1. Select system configuration and study principles of its work.

2. Check correspondence to system requirements imposed on database server, license server, application server, BI server, web server, and client computers.

3. See user authentication types and prepare necessary environment.

4. See Foresight Analytics Platform activation procedure and available features. The license server is a mandatory component of any system, it is used to activate software based on Foresight Analytics Platform, as well as to control access to the tools in use.

5. Prepare DBMS back end.

After the environment is prepared, proceed to installation of Foresight Analytics Platform. Installation is implemented using the distribution files included in the software package of Foresight Analytics Platform.

Foresight Analytics Platform in Windows OS uses additional software that must be installed in the operating system. The availability of necessary software is checked during the installation of Foresight Analytics Platform. If any program is missing, it will be automatically installed from the prerequisites package.

Installing Web Application

TIP. To quickly install the web application on Linux OS (PostgreSQL DBMS), see the Installing Foresight Analytics Platform Web Application on Linux OS (PostgreSQL DBMS) section. To execute advanced installation of the web application with minimum requirements, see the Advanced Installation of Foresight Analytics Platform Web Application on Linux OS (PostgreSQL DBMS) section.

To install the web application in Linux OS/Windows OS:

1. Install BI server.

2. Create a metadata repository.

3. Create a service user of security subsystem.

4. Install web application back end.

5. Set up web application configuration.

6. Activate Foresight Analytics Platform.

After executing the operations the web application is installed. The applications that will be available after installation are described in the Foresight Analytics Platform Applications section.

Installing Desktop Application

To install the desktop application in Windows OS:

1. Study desktop application installation features.

2. Make sure that the following conditions are satisfied:

• Installation is executed under the user who has local computer administrator permissions.

• Foresight Analytics Platform and Windows OS bitness match.

3. Start one of the distribution files included in the software package of Foresight Analytics Platform:

• FP10Full_x64.exe.

• FP10Standard_x64.exe.

Desktop application installation procedure using a distribution is described in the Installing Foresight Analytics Platform Desktop Application section.

If required, the FP10Full_x64.exe and FP10Standard_x64.exe distributions can be started with parameters. For details see the Starting Distribution File Using Parameters section.

4. Create a metadata repository.

5. Create a service user of security subsystem.

6. Activate Foresight Analytics Platform.

After executing the operations the desktop application is installed. The applications that will be available after installation are described in the Foresight Analytics Platform Applications section.

Desktop application installation may include setup of repositories and autoupdate options. For details see the Setting Up Repositories and Autoupdate Using File section.

The desktop application can be started from command line using a specific syntax, for example, for automatic repository connection and/or object opening. When the platform is started from the command line, keys can be used. Starting the desktop application from the command line with various parameters is used to create and test commands that can be saved in the future as shortcuts and can be used for automatic startup of developed applications and also change startup procedure.

Installing Business Application

To install the business application in Linux OS/Windows OS:

1. Make sure that the web application is installed. To ensure business application back end work, make sure to install BI server.

2. Install the Designer of Business Applications extension in the repository.

3. Create a business application will be displayed in the object navigator.

4. Install business application back end.

5. Set up business application configuration.

After executing the operations the business application is installed.

Additional Components

To extend functions of developed applications in Foresight Analytics Platform, there are additional components installed separately:

• Extensions. Tools for extending functionality of created systems: Calculation Algorithms, Business Process Management, Interactive Data Entry Forms, Designer of Business Applications, Cube Cache.

• Developer tools. Interop assemblies registered in global assemblies cache (GAC) for development of user applications using components of Foresight Analytics Platform based on .NET platform.
