Working with Table Data Set

To open a table data set for edit:

Select the Edit item in the dictionary's context menu.
Select the Edit in a New Tab item in the dictionary's context menu.
Select the Edit in a New Window item in the dictionary's context menu.
Press F4.

The users who have only object read permissions can open a data set for edit without being able to save changes. For details see the Working in Object Navigator section.

The table data set edit method depends on the object type:

Table. The table wizard opens to edit the table data set.
External table. The external table wizard opens to edit the table data set.
View. The view editing dialog box opens to edit the table data set. One can open the wizard using the Settings button in the editing window.
Query. The query editing dialog box opens to edit the table data set. One can open the wizard using the Settings button in the editing window.
Log. The log editing dialog box opens to edit the table data set. One can open the wizard using the Settings button in the editing window.

To save a new table data set or to open a table data set for edit:

In the table data set wizard:

Click the Save button.
Select the Save and Close item in the drop-down menu of the Save button. After this the specified settings are saved, the table data set wizard closes, and:

The object navigator opens for tables, external tables.
The edit mode opens for views, queries, and logs.

NOTE. The Save and Close item is available only on editing the settings.

In the edit mode for views, queries, and logs:

Click the Save button.
Confirm custom operation in the information window when going to the object navigator/table data set wizard.

To open a data set for view, execute one of the operations:

Select the Open item in the object's context menu.
Double-click the object.
Press the ENTER key.

NOTE. When opening a data set containing over one hundred thousand records, the window displays only the first hundred thousand records and an appropriate message is displayed.
