Setting Up Dictionary Attribute Editor

The attribute editor is used to display dictionary attribute values in data entry form cells.

The dictionary attribute editor is applied to create combined forms and cards. Cards are applied to edit and add records to registry.

Data entry form represents a card with fields that are attribute editors of the Enterprise Group dictionary:

After the card has been created, use it to edit and add records to registry. To do this, set up registry to navigate to card: determine the card as a repository object on dimension detailing.

To set up a dictionary attribute editor, use the Attribute dialog box by clicking the

Add Attribute button of the Designer ribbon tab:

Create a dictionary attribute editor by clicking the Add Attribute button on the Designer ribbon tab.

Determine editor properties:

Dictionary. Determine the dictionary, to which the attribute will be linked. To do this, select the dictionary in the drop-down list or click the Search button and start typing dictionary name.
Attribute. Determine the attribute, which value will be displayed in the cell. To do this, select the dictionary attribute in the drop-down list or click the Search button and start typing name.

NOTE. If for attribute editor, the linked attribute of parametric dictionary is used, the data entry form considers parameters settings in link.

Default Value. Determine the value, which will be assigned to each new element on creation by default.

NOTE. If the Start Date or End Date attribute is used for the attribute editor of a version dictionary, date and time can be specified on setting up default value.

Parameter. To dynamically change attribute value, select the dictionary attribute linked to the form parameter in the drop-down list.
Read-Only. To prohibit attribute change, select the checkbox. On adding a new element, the default element will not be saved to dictionary.
Save Default Value on Creating Element. To save default value on adding a new element to dictionary, select the checkbox. It is available after the Read-Only checkbox is selected.

Finish the selection by clicking the OK button.

The example of editor setup that uses linked attribute:

As the attribute source the Employees MDM dictionary is used. For the Division attribute of the Employees dictionary, the link with the Divisions MDM dictionary is set up. The Divisions dictionary has the Actuality Data parameter. For the 01.10.2019 date, the dictionary contains the Development Division item. For the 08.10.2019 date, the Development Division item changes name to the Products Development Division and one more item is added - Testing and Documentation Division.

In the data entry form the three attribute editors and the Employee parameter are set up, for which the Employees dictionary is also a data source:

As a result, on changing parameter value, available attribute editor values will change.

To set up values sent to the attribute from linked dictionary, use advanced filter.

If the selected attribute is link with other dictionaries, the Filtering button becomes active.

To open the filtering dialog box, click the Filtering button. The Edit Attribute Filter dialog box opens:

To create a filter, click the Add button and set parameters:

Attribute. Select an attribute of the specified dictionary in the drop-down list. To filter dictionary elements by linked dictionary attributes, select in the list of available linked attributes the attribute of the dictionary selected on link creation with attribute of selected dictionary. Linked attributes are displayed at the first nested level and represent the tree of available linked attributes.

NOTE. If dictionary attribute contains multiple values, then on checking filtering condition all attribute values will be compared. If at least one attribute value meets the condition, the dictionary element will automatically meet the condition.

Condition. Set filtering condition depending on attribute data type . Available options: equal, not equal, greater, less, greater or equal, less or equal, included, not included. For the string type data attribute, advanced condition options are available: starts with, ends with, contains, does not contain.

Type. Select filter type. Available options: value, attribute.
Ignore Empty. Attribute empty values will be ignored if the checkbox is selected. It is available only for the Attribute type.
Value. It depends on the selected attribute and type:

If the Value type is selected, the specific value corresponding to the data type of the attribute is specified in the field.
If the Attribute type is selected, select the attribute in the box using the drop-down list that looks like a tree of available attributes.
If the attribute is linked and the Value type is selected, the box has a pop-up menu with the linked dictionary available values.
If attribute is linked and the Attribute type is selected, the box has a drop-down menu with a tree of available attributes of linked dictionary

Do Not Filter from Empty Values. Attribute values are not filtered if value is empty, if the checkbox is selected.

To delete the created filter, click the Delete button if required.

To save the filter, click the OK button.

To change dictionary attribute editor, click the Edit button on the Designer ribbon tab or select the Edit context menu item of the cell, for which editor is added.

To add several attributes linked to one dictionary to data entry form, use copy and paste.

To copy attribute editor, select a cell containing attribute and select the Copy Attribute context menu item. All specified attribute and formatting settings are copied.

To paste attribute editor, select a cell where attribute must be inserted and select the Paste Attribute context menu item. The item becomes available if the attribute editor was copied.

The added attribute is editable.
