Installing BI Server on Windows OS

The BI server must be installed to the Internet Information Services web server by means of the FP10BIServerIIS_x64.exe installer under the user who has local computer administrator permissions. The installer uses the Reg-free COM registration technology are available.

NOTE. The distribution file may include the folder containing prerequisites and MSI installers of the help system. Prerequisites and help system installation features are described in the Foresight Analytics Platform Software Package section. Installing several distribution files of one release is forbidden.

As a result, the installer installs BI server and Foresight Analytics Platform desktop application.

A BI server can be installed to a web server that does not contain the web application. Later, install and set up the web application to the same or to another web server. If BI server is installed correctly, the virtual directory of the fpBI_App_v10.x BI server is created in the system.

Working with Installer

To start the installation, run the FP10BIServerIIS_x64.exe installer. After starting the installer checks if there is an earlier build of Foresight Analytics Platform:

Select the language, which is used in installer interface:

The installer checks if there is an additional software (prerequisites) on the workstation. If the required prerequisite is not installed, or only an earlier version is available on the computer, the system prompts to install it:

To start prerequisites installation, click the Install button. Clicking the Install button will install all the available components one by one. If the required prerequisite is unavailable in the ISSetupPrerequisites folder, BI server installation stops and system reports that the requested files could not be found.

If the required prerequisites are included in the software package, the Status column shows setup status for each of the components: successful, installing, pending.

System restart may be required after some prerequisites are installed. Answer Yes to restart or No to continue with the installation. After this message is displayed, it is recommended to restart your workstation as it is required for proper installation of the remaining prerequisites and BI Server. After restarting the installation will continue automatically: a dialog box to continue prerequisite installation opens, or installation of the BI server will continue.

Extracting required files:

Click the Cancel button to abort installation.

If required files are extracted, the background information is displayed:

To go to the installation parameters setup, click the Next button.

This operation will be executed if earlier versions of Foresight Analytics Platform including PROGNOZ 5 or Prognoz Platform are installed on the workstation.

Select the next action:

Remove All Previous Versions. All existing previous versions of Prognoz Platform and Foresight Analytics Platform are removed from the computer.
Keep All Previous Versions. All existing versions of Prognoz Platform and Foresight Analytics Platform are kept.

IMPORTANT. Simultaneous use of the new and the previous version of Foresight Analytics Platform is impossible starting with the version 9.4.

Select the folder, where Foresight Analytics Platform is to be installed:

By default, Foresight Analytics Platform is supposed to be installed to: C:\Program Files\Foresight\.

Click the Change button to change the installation folder. The dialog box opens, in which select the required folder.

Select the most appropriate setup type:

The following setup types are available:

Complete. Default setup type. A complete set of features will be installed on the workstation. This setup type is recommended in most of cases but requires more disk space.
Custom. The features specified by the user will be installed on the workstation. This setup type is recommended for advanced users only.
After selecting the Custom setup type select the features to install:

The following features can be installed:

Common Files. Files and libraries required to ensure correct performance of all features.
Repository Builder. This unit works with the existing repository.
DBMS Support. A collection of system libraries required to support DBMS (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, OLE DB, Db2, Teradata, PostgreSQL, SQLite).
Security Manager. This unit implements a set of tools to control the integrity of the application system and the information stored in this system.
Repository Manager. This unit is used to automate version update and update of versions of Foresight Analytics Platform repository.
Application Server. BI server. If BI server is installed on the web server, this feature includes the configuration for IIS.

NOTE. Some features are mandatory, and their installation cannot be disabled.

For integrity checking select the Check Control Sums Every Time Platform Runs checkbox at each restart. Checksums are performed for executable files during their loading. At each startup of Foresight Analytics Platform, the system loads a minimum set of executable files, and additional libraries required for work are loaded on use of the corresponding functionality. The checkbox is deselected by default, and integrity check is not executed. This setting is applied only for the Foresight Analytics Platform version to be installed.

Select the feature to install in the list to view information about the disk space required to install the feature. The information will be displayed in the Feature Description area.

Click the Space button to view information about the disk space required to install the selected features, and the workstation free disk space. The following information will be displayed: disk partitions, their size, free disk space and the size required to install the selected features.

The installer is ready for installation:

Click the Install button to start the installation.

All required components are installed and set up:

Click the Cancel button to abort installation.

Licenses

Foresight Analytics Platform checks license during the work. To work in the web application, activate Foresight Analytics Platform on BI server. The web application can be activated on BI server only by using a network or temporary stand-alone license. Using network license requires to install a license server in the same network where BI server is installed.
