Getting Started with the Designer of Business Applications Extension

To get started with a business application, create a new business application or open a ready business application.

To create a new business application in the object navigator click the Create button in the main menu and select the object type on the New Object side panel.

After executing the operation the business application creation wizard opens. When creating a business application, one can use only the Basic Settings wizard page.

To open a ready business application for edit in the object navigator select the business application and execute one of the operations:

Select the Edit item in the business application's context menu.
Select the Edit in a New Tab item in the business application's context menu.
Select the Edit in a New Window item in the business application's context menu.
Press F4.

After executing one of the operations the business application creation wizard opens.

The users who have only object read permissions can open a ready business application for edit without being able to save changes. For details see the Working in Object Navigator section.

To open a ready business application for view in the object navigator select the business application and execute one of the operations:

Select the Open item in the business application's context menu.
Select the Open in a New Tab item in the business application's context menu.
Select the Open in a New Window item in the business application's context menu.
Double-click the business application.
Press the ENTER key.

After executing one of the operations the business application opens in the navigator object tree.

To open a business application in the web interface, make sure that the following conditions are satisfied:

Designer of business application back end is installed and set up.
To log in to the business application, the repository user has permissions to read the COMPONENTS folder with the EXT_COMPONENTS_FOLDER identifier and nested objects.

Navigation bar. It contains business application menu items.
Main menu. It contains user credentials and service commands:

If the working area displays the object navigator, the following operations can be executed:

Breadcrumb. It contains the path from the start page to the folder or currently opened object and can be used to manage displaying of the navigation bar using the Collapse Bar and Expand Bar buttons.
Working area. It is used to display and open objects selected on the navigation bar.

For objects opened with custom buttons from the data entry form, navigation bar and breadcrumb are not available if the following conditions are satisfied:

An object opens in a modal window. The Open in Modal Window checkbox is selected for the object on setting up a custom button in a data entry form.
An object or a folder with the object are not displayed in the navigator bar. The Do not Show display option is selected for an object or a folder when setting up navigation structure.
An object or a folder containing the object are located outside the designer of business applications.
