Getting Started with Web Application and Desktop Application

To start working, start Foresight Analytics Platform:

NOTE. Startup and work with Foresight Analytics Platform requires only user permissions.
Startup and work with Foresight Analytics Platform in the isolated environment is available even if there is no Internet connection.

As a result, on a successful connection to server, the login dialog box opens:

Appearance of the login dialog box depends on the authentication method select in the repository settings. The Setting button is hidden by default in the web application that is used to create a list of repositories settings. To display the button, see the Hiding the Settings Button in Login Dialog Box section. One can also change other interface elements in the login dialog box.

NOTE. Correct start of Foresight Analytics Platform desktop application or its particular units from the server requires to have prerequisites on the workstation. Network resource can be started only in Reg-free platform versions.

To log into the system:

  1. Change interface language of Foresight Analytics Platform if required.

  1. Select the repository from the Repository drop-down list. To quickly search for a repository in the web application, start typing its full or partial name. If there is no required repository in the list, click the Settings button. After this the repository setup wizard in the web application or the Parameters dialog box in the desktop application. Determine connection settings for the required repository.

NOTE. If required, in the desktop application one can hide the Settings button. For details see the Hiding the Settings Button in Login Dialog Box section.

In the web application, the list of available repositories is created depending on the settings of BI server. Path to BI server is set in the PP.xml file in the <service> or <proxy> section. By default the connection is performed to the specified repository in the PP.xml file in the <metabase>.

  1. Enter user name and password into the appropriate boxes. When integrated domain authentication is used, the User Name and the Password boxes will be hidden. When domain authentication is used, the User Name box will be replaced with the Domain User Name box to specify domain and user name in the format: Domain\name or name@domain.

  1. Click the Log In button in the web application or the OK button in the desktop application.

NOTE. In the web application and in the designer of business applications one can authorize by means of the service supporting the OAuth 2.0 or OpenID Connect protocol. To set up login via external services, see the Setting Up Authentication via External Services section.

After the registration is complete, the object navigator opens in the web application or the login dialog box in the desktop application:

In the login dialog box select the required tool or open one of the recently opened documents:

After executing one of the operations, the interface of the selected Foresight Analytics Platform tool or the object navigator opens.

NOTE. The welcome screen shows icons of the tools, for which there are features.
