Getting Started with Update Manager

To create a new update:

In the web application:

Open the URL:

In Linux OS:

http://<web server>:<port number>/fp10.x/r/#/app/updatemanager?mode=edit

In Windows OS:

http://<web server>:<port number>/FP_App_v10.x/r/#/app/updatemanager?mode=edit

Where:

<web server>. IP address or DNS name of the server with installed web application back end.
<port number>. Number of the port, at which web application back end is available. The 8110 port is used by default in Linux OS, the 80 port is used by default in Windows OS.

In the object navigator select the Create Update item in the Update Manager section on the side panel.

After executing the operations in the first case the update manager opens, in the second case the update wizard opens. Functions of the update manager and the update wizard differ.

In the desktop application:

In the object navigator select the Tools > Update Manager > Create main menu item.
In the update manager:

Select the Update > Create main menu item.
Click the Create Update button on the toolbar.

In security manager select the Repository > Version Update > Create main menu item.

To open ready update:

From file:

In the web application:

In the object navigator select the Open Update item in the Update Manager section on the side panel.
In the update manager click the Open from File button on the toolbar.

In the desktop application:

Select the Tools > Update Manager > Create main menu item in the object navigator.
Select the Update > Open from File main menu item in the update manager or click the Open Update File button on the toolbar.
In the security manager select the Repository > Version Update > Open main menu item.

After this a standard file selection dialog box opens. Select the update file with the *.pefx extension.

From repository:

In the object navigator select the Update object type and select the Open item in the object's context menu.
In the update manager select the Update > Open from Repository main menu item. In the dialog box that opens select update object from repository objects.

NOTE. A ready update from repository can be opened only in the desktop application.

There are some features on opening ready update.

Main menu. In the web application it contains update name and buttons to go back to the object navigator, update options, and settings for saving update to file. In the desktop application it contains commands that are used to execute various operations with update.
Toolbar. It is used to create update structure.
Update structure. It contains update objects. In the update wizard in the we application and in the desktop application one can use context menu items to work with update objects.
Object update options panel. It is used to set up update options of the object selected in the update structure. To show or hide the object update options panel in the update manager in the web application, use the Object Update Options button on the toolbar.
Update options panel/The Update Options tab. It is used to set up update options. In the update manager in the web application update options are contained in the update manager wizard.
The Repository Tab. It contains a tree of repository objects and objects contained inside container objects: modeling container, MDM repository, and so on. It is used to add repository objects to update. It is available only in the desktop application.
The Modifications Analysis Tab. It is used to get information about repository objects modifications by specified parameters. It is available only in the desktop application.
Update wizard pages. The area is used to display update wizard pages during update creation and to navigate between wizard pages during update installation. It is available only in the web application.
