General Settings of Data Series

To set up general parameters of a data series, go to the General tab of the Data Series Format dialog box.

NOTE. General settings of data series are available in the Data Series Format dialog box only in the desktop application.

TIP. To quickly set up series format, use the Data Series tab of the side panel.

To open the Data Series Format dialog box

Series smoothing is used to remove the broken line effect that appears on plotting a linear or scatter chart with connecting lines and for the Line series type in a mixed chart.

To set up linear series smoothing, select the following checkbox:

Use Smoothing. The checkbox is available on the General tab of the Data Series Format dialog box. When the checkbox is selected, smoothing is applied only to the selected chart data series.
Smooth Series. The checkbox is available in the Chart Types dialog box. When the checkbox is selected, smoothing is applied to all series of the selected chart.

To show a series in the legend, select the Show in Legend checkbox. The checkbox is selected by default, and the series is shown in the legend.

To display series shadow, select the Display Shadow checkbox.

Then set up shadow offset along the category axis (X) and offset along the value axis (Y) using the value editors dX and dY respectively. In the drop-down palette select the required shadow color or select new color in the advanced palette opened by clicking the Other button.

A secondary axis is an additional value axis that may contain:

Values of data series that strongly differ from other series values.
Series values presented on the chart as a different type of data.

To use secondary axis for the series, select the Plot Series on Secondary Axis checkbox.

When the series is plotted on the secondary axis, it is possible to display the axis, that contains series for any series in the legend. To do this, select the Show Axis Marker Next to the Series Icons checkbox on the General tab of the Legend Format dialog box.

To edit data in the table and in data source using the chart, select the Enable Editing checkbox. The checkbox is selected by default, and data series can be edited.
