Groups of Elements

A group of elements is a repository object used in dictionaries to limit the list of available elements. Groups of elements are created as dictionary child objects and are not shown in the object navigator.

Groups of elements can be used in Foresight Analytics Platform tools to select elements of the dimension based on the specified dictionary.

A group of elements consists of selection types.

A selection type is a collection of dictionary elements combined by some common characteristic.

Selection schemas can be managed on the Selection Schemas page of the dictionary creation wizard.

To manage groups of elements, follow the steps:

  1. Add a new group of elements.

  2. Add selection type.

  3. Set up selection type if required.

  4. Select type of selection type communication.

  5. Delete selection type if required.

  6. Delete group of elements if required.

NOTE. Adding and deleting MDM dictionary/composite MDM dictionary elements included in the groups of elements and the use of groups of elements in various operations do not depend on whether the default hierarchy is selected. Groups of elements of MDM dictionaries work only with main dictionary elements. One can create a group of elements based on default alternative hierarchies.
