Legend: General

A legend contains names and markers of data series in the chart. The order of series displaying in the legend corresponds to their order on the chart taking into account the configured order of series on overlay.

To quickly set up a legend, use the Legend side panel tab.

The following settings can be defined for the chart legend:

Setting up legend position.
Setting up legend format.
Setting up legend border and fill.

To determine advanced legend settings, use the Legend tab in the Chart Parameters dialog box and the Legend Format dialog box.

Quick Setup

The Legend tab is located on the side panel and is used to set up chart legend parameters.

Make sure that the side panel is displayed.
Select the chart in the working area.
Select the Format radio button on the side panel and go to the Legend tab.

In the Position group select the required legend position relative to the chart area:

By default, the legend is positioned at the bottom of the chart.

Legend position options:

. The upper left corner.
. The upper border center.
. The upper right corner.
. The right border center.
. The lower right corner.
. The lower border center.
. The lower left corner.
. The left border center.
. The legend is not displayed.

Set up parameters of chart legend font:

Font type. In the drop-down list select one of the fonts available in the operating system.
Size. In the drop-down list select the required font size or enter it using the keyboard.
Font style. Click the buttons that determine the font style:

B. Bold.
I. Italic.
U. Underline.

When the font style button is pressed, the corresponding font style is used.

Font color. Select the required font color in the drop-down palette. To set a new font color, click the Spectrum button in the standard color palette and select a color in the advanced color palette.

In the Fill drop-down list select type of chart background fill:

Solid Fill. Monochrome fill. Select the fill color in the drop-down palette. If required, determine fill transparency percentage.

Gradient Fill. Background is filled with two-color gradient. Specify the start and the end colors of gradient in the drop-down palettes. If required, determine slope angle and gradient transparency percentage.

Only solid fill can be set in the web application.

A different set of parameters is shown in the desktop application for each fill type:

Transparency. Select transparency of chart legend background fill. 100% corresponds to full transparency (borders and fill become invisible), 0% corresponds to full opacity. Select the required value using scrollbar or value editor.

Angle. Determine gradient slope angle.

To show the legend border, select the Border checkbox. Specify border color, type and line width in the corresponding boxes.

NOTE. Border line type can be changed only in the desktop application.
