Setting Up Alignment

Alignment for the following chart components can be set up on the Alignment tab:

NOTE. Chart components alignment can be set up using the Alignment tab only in the desktop application.

Depending on the chart component, the following operations are available during the alignment setup:

The setting enables the user to set margins between:

Chart area and workspace edge.
Chart caption and the workspace edge (on top, left and right) and plot area borders (in the bottom).
Legend and chart area or workspace borders.

Set margins for the chart area, chart caption or its legend in the Margins group by selecting the required radio button:

Automatic. The distance between components is set automatically.
Set. Specify distances between components manually using the keyboard or value editor.

NOTE. Value input is available in different measurement units. The editor input box shows values using measurement units that correspond to the current regional settings of the operating system.

Determine parameters of chart caption alignment. To do this, select type of horizontal text alignment in the Horizontal Alignment group:

Left. The text is placed at the left edge.
Center. The text is placed in the center.
Right. The text is placed at the right edge.

Determine parameters of label text alignment relative to the axis. To do this, select type of vertical and horizontal alignment of the text in the Text Alignment group, using the Vertical and Horizontal drop-down lists respectively.

NOTE. Only vertical alignment is available for the Y axis, while for X axis the user can set both horizontal and vertical alignment. Horizontal alignment is relevant only for multiline labels.

Vertical alignment types:

Near to Axis. The text is placed near the axis.
Center. The text is placed in the center.
Far from Axis. The text is placed far from axis.

Horizontal alignment types:

Left. The text is placed at the left edge.
Center. The text is placed in the center.
Right. The text is placed at the right edge.

To set stagger alignment for the text, select the Stagger checkbox and then define determine how to show the labels by checking the appropriate radio button:

Odd First. Labels of odd scale tick marks are located near to axis.
Even First. Labels of even scale tick marks are located near to axis.

NOTE. Text alignment in staggered order is available only in the desktop application. Parameters specified in the desktop application are not applied in the web application.

To wrap the label text by words, select the Wrap Text checkbox and select the By Words of the By Letters radio button. When the checkbox is deselected, the label text is not wrapped.

NOTE. On setting label text wrap consider the following:
      • If the Wrap the Text checkbox is selected in the desktop application, and any of the text wrap options is selected, text is wrapped in the web application by words.
      • If the checkbox is not selected in the desktop application, text is not wrapped in the web application.
      • Text in Chinese is wrapped by hieroglyphs.

To determine parameters of axis label text rotation, set text rotation parameters in the Text Rotation group using the angle editor (the number field below shows the created angle in degrees) or using a value editor.

The example below shows charts without rotation and with the rotation angle 45 degrees defined for the Y axis labels:

Determine axis label margins from the scale and axis offset.

NOTE. Setting up axis label margins from the scale is available only in the desktop application. Parameters specified in the desktop application are not applied in the web application.

To set axis label margins from the scale, select the required radio button in the Axis Label Margin group:

Auto. The margin between the axis label and the scale is set automatically.
Set. Set value of the margin between axis labels text and the scale using the keyboard or value editor.

NOTE. Value input is available in different measurement units. The editor input box shows values using measurement units that correspond to the current regional settings of the operating system.

Specify axis offset relative to the chart plot area.

NOTE. Axis offset can be set up only in the desktop application. Parameters specified in the desktop application are not applied in the web application.

To set up axis offset, select the Axis Offset checkbox and select offset option:

Auto. Axis offset is set as equal to tick mark interval.
Set. Set value of the axis offset using the keyboard or value editor. The value can be negative.
If the offset value is positive, the axis is shifted in the direction opposite to the plot area. If the offset value is negative, the axis is shifted within the plot area.

NOTE. Value input is available in different measurement units. The editor input box shows values using measurement units that correspond to the current regional settings of the operating system.

Determine alignment parameters for the chart legend text. To do this, select the Word Wrap checkbox in the Elements Alignment group. Then use the Vertical drop-down list to select type of text alignment relative to the series marker:

Top. The text is placed at the top.
Center. The text is placed in the center.
Bottom. The text is placed at the bottom.
