Setting Up Trend Line

NOTE. Trend lines can be set up using this dialog box only in the desktop application.

TIP. To quickly set up trend line, use the Data Series tab on the side panel.

To open the Trend Line Format dialog box

The following operations are available when working with trend lines in the Trend Line Format dialog box:

To set up trend line type, select the required trend line type on the Type tab of the Trend Line Format dialog box.

The following line plotting types are available:

Linear.
Logarithmic.
Exponential.
Power.
Mean Value.
Peak Values.

To set up trend line options, go to the Options tab of the Trend Line Format dialog box:

Set up trend line:

Specify trend line name in the Line Name group by selecting one of the radio buttons:

- Automatic. Trend line name is selected automatically. By default, the name is created as follows: trend type (series type). For example: Linear trend (Bryansk region).
- Other. Use the keyboard to enter trend line name.

Select the number of backward and forward forecasting points in the Backward Forecast and Forward Forecast value editors.
Set the peak interval, at which peak series values are calculated.

NOTE. The Forward Forecast and Backward Forecast parameters are available for all trend types, except for the Mean Value and Peak Values types. The Peak Interval parameter is available only for the Peak Values trend type.

Set up chart line formatting in the Line group of the Chart Lines tab of the Trend Line Format tab.

Set trend line parameters:

In the Line Type drop-down list select a line type.
Select the line width in the Line Width drop-down list. Selecting the Custom option opens the Line Width dialog box, where the user can select the required line width manually or by using a value editor.

NOTE. Value input is available in different measurement units but the input box always shows the value in points (1/72 inch).

Select line color in the drop-down palette or select a new color in the advanced color palette opened on clicking the Other button.

If required, set up trend line transparency.

To smooth a trend line, select the Smooth Series (for Linear Types Only) checkbox on the General tab of the Trend Line Format dialog box.

NOTE. Tab appearance is identical to that of the General tab in the Data Series Format dialog box.

To show the trend line in legend, select the Show in Legend checkbox on the General tab of the Trend Line Format dialog box. By default, the checkbox is selected, and the trend line is shown in the legend.

To display the trend line shadow, check the Display Shadow box on the General tab of the Trend Line Format dialog box.

Then set up shadow offset along the category axis (X) and offset along the value axis (Y) using the value editors dX and dY respectively. In the drop-down palette select the required shadow color or select new color in the advanced palette opened by clicking the Other button.
