Select users and groups

To select users and groups on adding users to groups, on adding privilege holders, use the Search Users and Groups dialog box in the web application and the Select Users and Groups dialog box in the desktop application.

NOTE. Working with the Select Users and the Select Groups dialog boxes on adding a domain user or domain group is executed identically to working with the Select Users and Groups dialog box.

Select subject type, arrangement, and enter user names or groups to check subjects.

To search for a security subject, use the two filter groups: Subject Type and Arrangement that enable the user to determine, which security subjects to find and where to find them.

The Subject Type group:

All. When this radio button is selected, the search is executed in all security subjects (only in the desktop application).
Groups. When this radio button is selected, the search will include only groups of users.
Users. When this radio button is selected, the search will include only users.

The Arrangement group:

In the web application:

Domain. When this radio button is selected, the search will include domain subjects.
DBMS. When this checkbox is selected, the search will include DBMS subjects.

In the desktop application:

Any. When this radio button is selected, the search will include domain subjects and DBMS subjects.
Domain. When this radio button is selected, the search will include domain subjects.
DBMS. When this radio button is selected, the search will include DBMS subjects.

NOTE. When the Groups and Users, Domain Users and DBMS Users checkboxes are selected at the same time in the web application, the search will include all security subjects.

To select users or groups:

In the web application enter names to the search string. The Name list is used to specify the search type:

Name contains. Search is executed for subjects, which names include the entered text. This search type is selected by default.
Name starts with. The subjects are found, which names start with the entered text.
Name is equal to. Search is executed for subjects, which names match the entered text.

After a name is entered, click the Find button. Select one or several found subjects in the list by holding down the CTRL key and click the Add button.

In the desktop application enter names or parts of names via semicolon in the Enter Names box. After names are entered, click the Check button to check subjects.

To check subjects by entered names or parts of name, click the Check or Find button.

If the subjects are found, their full names appear instead of the names entered by the user:

Click the OK button to select the found users and groups.

If more than one security subject has been found based on the entered names, the Several Names were Found dialog box opens:

Select one or several subjects in the dialog box. Multiple subjects can be selected by holding down the CTRL key.

If no security subjects have been found based on the entered names, the Subject Name is not Found dialog box opens:

If the Correct the Subject Data and Repeat Search radio button has been selected in the dialog box, you can specify another type of subject, another arrangement or another name and repeat the search.

If the Remove "%s" from Selected Subjects radio button is selected in the dialog box, the subject search is to be completed.

Advanced Search of Users and Groups

The advanced search of users and groups includes determining the domain, in which search is to be executed, and is available if the following supported DBMS: PostgreSQL/Postgres Pro, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server.

To execute advanced search of users and groups in the desktop application, click the Advanced button in the Select Users and Groups dialog box. The Advanced Search of Users and Groups dialog box opens that allows for searching for security subjects with advanced capabilities, which is similar to the Search Users and Groups dialog box in the web application.

Subject type, arrangement, user name or group name are set identically to the dialog box to select users and groups without advanced search. When the advanced search of users and groups is used, the Domain drop-down list used for search can be used to determine a domain:

NOTE. The search in the current user domain or computer domain is available only in the desktop application.

If a user computer is not included in the domain network or included in another domain network, select the Connect to Domain from Other User Name checkbox to search for users and groups under the another use name. After the checkbox is selected, the boxes for user credentials of the domain, in which search is executed, are displayed. Enter user name and password into the appropriate boxes.

To start the search based on the determined parameters, click the Find button. Select one or several found subjects in the list by holding down the CTRL key and click the OK button.

If a search based on the determined parameters takes more than one second, the Searching Security Subjects dialog box opens over this dialog box:

Elapsed search time is also shown in the dialog box. Subjects are added to the list as soon as they are found. Click the Cancel button to stop search, the already found subjects remain in the list.

NOTE. Aborting the search for security subjects is available only in the desktop application.
