Getting Started with the Business Process Management Extension

To create a new process:

• In the object navigator execute one of the operations:

• Click the New Object > User Objects > Process button in the Create group on the Home ribbon tab.

• Select the Create > User Objects > Process item in the object navigator's context menu.

The Insert Object - Parameters - Process dialog box opens, in which enter name of the created process, and, if required, change automatically generated identifier.

Then, the created process will be opened in the Setting Up Business Process dialog box in edit mode.

To open ready process for edit:

• In the object navigator select the process and execute one of the operations:

• Click the Edit button in the Open group on the Home ribbon tab.

• Select the Edit item in the object navigator's context menu.

• Press F4.

To open ready process for view:

• In the object navigator select the process and execute one of the operations:

• Click the Open button in the Open group on the Home ribbon tab.

• Select the Open item in the object navigator's context menu.

• Double-click the selected process.

To open ready process for view in web interface:

• Open supported browser and in the connection string specify web application URL.

• The login page opens if server connection is successful.

• Enter user name and password in the corresponding boxes and click the Log In button.

• Select process monitoring side menu item.

The Setting Up Business Process dialog box opens in edit mode, the Business Process Monitoring dialog box opens in view mode.

• Main menu. The Business Process main menu contains commands to save and update data, print graphical process scheme and close the extension window. The Legend command displays a color indication legend with process step execution statuses and characters in use.

• Quick access toolbar. It contains a set of frequently used commands: Save, Print.

• Ribbon. It contains buttons located on tabs.

• Home. It is used to visually set up working area.

• Process. It is used to set up and start a process for execution.

• Debug. It is used to disable process steps including calculation and approval steps.

• Process tree. It contains stages and steps of the process and also nested subprocesses as a tree.

• Working area. It is used to visually present elements of the process, subprocess and stage selected in the process tree.

• Status bar. It contains information about name and number of steps of the process, subprocess or stage selected in the process tree. Parameter values are displayed for the process step.

To go to the process steps execution, in the Set Up Business Process dialog box click the Go to Monitoring button on the Process toolbar tab.

Functionality of the following areas has been extended:

• Process tree. The area contains running process instances. The process tree uses characters and color indication to display type and status of process instance stage or step execution.

NOTE. A process instance is a process running with specific parameter values. The number of running instances is unlimited.
Process tree layout can be set up: show or hide start parameters, subprocesses steps and executed subprocesses steps.

• Start parameters. The area contains values of start parameters, name of the manager who started the process for execution, start date and time.

• Working area. The working area uses color indication to display status of stages or steps execution of the process instance selected in the tree. Clicking the Show Log button displays in the working area the stages or steps execution log of the process instance selected in the tree.

• Ribbon. It contains buttons located on tabs:

• Process. The tab is used to finish or reject process steps, stop or restart the whole process.

• Home. The tab is used to visually set up working area.

• Top menu. It contains web application name and logo.

• Side menu. It contains functional sections of the web application.

• Main menu. It contains commands to open help system for products and exit the application.

• Navigation menu. It contains the path from the start page to the currently opened functional block or object and is used to quickly access the required object.

• Working area. It contains main menu, ribbon, process tree, start parameters, and working area, similarly to elements of the Process Monitoring window in the desktop application.

NOTE. Use the button to hide or show the panel with top and side menus.

To view the legend for color indication of execution statuses and characters in use, click the Legend button main menu. The dialog box opens:
