Working with Dimensions

To reorder dimensions:

In regular reports:

In the web application drag dimensions in the Dimensions area on the control panel.
In the desktop application use the Up and Down items in the drop-down menu of the dimension in the Selection group of tabs on the side panel.

In information panels drag dimensions on the control panel
In express reports and dashboards use the Up and Down items in the drop-down menu of the dimension in the Selection group of tabs on the side panel.

NOTE. The Up command is unavailable for the top tab in the tab menu, the Down command is unavailable for the bottom tab. Tab position can be changed only within one dimension layout option, if this option includes two or more dimensions.

Dimension search is available only in the web application.

To search for a dimension:

Open the search string:

In regular reports click the Search button in the Dimensions area on the control panel:

In information panels click the Search button in the Dimensions area on the control panel:

In express reports and dashboards open the Selection group of tabs on the side panel:

Enter the name or part of the name of the searched dimension in the search string. Search is executed automatically while name is entered by all dimensions, including private ones. The list will display only the dimensions, which names contain the entered text.

To reset the search results, click the Close button.

Dimension indication is available only in regular reports in the web application.

The following elements are used to indicate dimensions:

The icon and a tooltip are displayed if there are no selected elements in the dimension or elements with different measurement units are selected, and a cube is used as a data source, in which the Do not Aggregate Different Measurement Units checkbox is selected.
The icon and a tooltip are displayed if there are dimension opening errors.
The icon is displayed if there is opening error and there is no selection in the dimension.

To edit a specific dimension and change its elements, use the Edit Dimension dialog box.

The following operations are available to set up displaying of dimensions in visualizer:

Advanced Settings

Adding a control is available only in regular reports in the web application.

To add a control, execute one of the operations in the Dimensions area on the control panel:

Select the Control item in the dimension's context menu.
Select the Control item in the drop-down menu of the Actions button.

NOTE. If a visualizer uses several data sources, controls can be added only for shared dimensions.

To resize the panel:

Hover the mouse cursor:

In regular reports:

On the border between the Sources and Dimensions areas on the control panel.
On the right border of the control panel.
On the right border of the control panel, of the Private Dimensions/Fixed Private Dimensions panel.

In information panels:

On the border between the Dimensions and Facts areas on the control panel.
On the right border of the control panel.
On the right border of the Dimension Filter area.

The cursor will look like a two-headed arrow.

Hold down the mouse button and drag the border in the required direction.
