Adding Data Slices and Working with Them

To add a new slice, execute one of the operations:

• Using Drag&Drop:

1. Hover the cursor over the required source. The cursor turns to .

2. Drag the source to the working area. The top left border of the selected cell will be the left top border of a table or a chart built based on the created slice.

3. In the selection menu specify Table or Chart> <Chart type>. The slice will be automatically added for the data source, and the selected visualizer will be added to the report sheet.

• Using context menu:

1. Select an empty cell on a report sheet. The top left border of the selected cell will be the left top border of a table or a chart built based on the created slice.

2. Execute one of the operations:

• Select the Add > Slice item in the data source's context menu on the Source panel.

• Select the Add > Table or Add > Chart > <Chart type> item in the data source's context menu on the Sources panel. The slice will be automatically added for the data source, and the selected visualizer will be added to the report sheet.

• On the Insert toolbar tab for the chart:

1. Select an empty cell on a report sheet. The top left border of the selected cell will be the left top border of a chart.

2. Select the chart type on Insert toolbar tab.

After executing the operations a data slice will be created. The new slice will be named Slice N by default, where N - slice number.

The slice is required to create visualizers.

NOTE. One can add only one data slice for data sources including two or more cubes.

When working with a data slice one can create the following visualizers: table, chart.

To delete data slice, select the Delete item in the selected slice's context menu. After executing the command the operation confirmation dialog box opens. Clicking the Yes button deletes the selected slice.

Deleting data sources and data slices also deletes all child objects. All tables and charts based on the slice are deleted for the slice.

To rename data slice, select the Rename item in the selected slice's context menu. After executing the command enter a new name and press the ENTER key.
