Managing Access Subjects

The Access Subjects page in the web application and in the desktop application is used to create a list of access subjects.

Access subjects are security subjects, for which access permissions to dictionary elements and attributes will be set up. Any users or groups of users can be added to access subjects.

NOTE. The maximum possible number of access subjects in dictionaries is 2048.

Web application Desktop application

The Access Subjects page is available if the Elements have Discretionary Access Permissions checkbox is selected on the Basic Settings page.

If the Elements have Discretionary Access Permissions, Elements have Mandatory Access Permissions, Elements have Attribute-Based Access Permissions checkboxes are selected on the Description tab, the user can add a dictionary element only if the user belongs to one of the groups that have effective permissions to add elements to this dictionary, in the label.

Operations with Access Subjects

To add an access subject:

In the web application click the Add button.
In the desktop application:

Click the Add button.
Select the Add item in the context menu on the empty area of the Access Subjects tab.
Double-click the empty area of the Access Subjects tab.

The Select Users and Groups dialog box opens.

To replace the selected subject in the desktop application:

Click the Replace button.
Select the Replace button in the subject's context menu.
Double-click the subject name.

To select another access subject, the Select Users and Groups dialog box opens.

NOTE. The list of security subjects for a dictionary can be generated or edited on the Security Labels tab of the Access Control Settings dialog box.

To delete the selected subject:

In the web application click the Delete button.
In the desktop application:

Click the Delete button.
Select the Delete item in the subject's context menu.
Press CTRL+DELETE.

A confirmation to execute the operation is requested.

NOTE. It is recommended to replace subjects instead of deleting them. A detailed description is given in the Security Labels section.

To change the number of displayed properties in the web application, click the Settings button and select or deselect the checkbox next to property names.
