Working with Dictionary

To open a dictionary for edit:

In the web application:

Select the Edit item in the dictionary's context menu.
Select the Edit in a New Tab item in the dictionary's context menu.
Select the Edit in a New Window item in the dictionary's context menu.
Press F4.

In the desktop application:

Click the Edit button on the Home ribbon tab in the desktop application.
Select the Edit item in the dictionary's context menu.
Press F4.

The dictionary edit method depends on the object type:

Table dictionary. To edit the dictionary, open the table dictionary wizard.
Calendar dictionary. To edit the dictionary, open the calendar dictionary wizard.
Calculated dictionary. To edit the dictionary, open the calculated dictionary wizard.
MDM dictionary. To edit the dictionary, open the dictionary editing window. In the web application one can open the wizard using the Settings button in the editing window.
Composite MDM dictionary. When the dictionary is opened for edit, the dictionary editing window opens. In the web application one can open the wizard using the Settings button in the editing window.

To save a new dictionary or to open a dictionary for edit in the web application:

In the dictionary wizard:

Click the Save button.
Select the Save and Close item in the drop-down menu of the Save button. After this the specified settings are saved, the wizard closes, and:

The object navigator opens for table, calendar and calculated dictionaries.
The MDM dictionary/composite MDM dictionary opens in the edit mode.

NOTE. The Save and Close item is available only on editing the settings.

In the edit mode for MDM dictionary/composite MDM dictionary:

Click the Save button.
Confirm the operation in the information window when going to the object navigator/MDM dictionary wizard/composite MDM dictionary wizard.

To save a new dictionary or to open a dictionary for edit in the desktop application:

Click the Finish button in the dictionary wizard.
In the edit mode for MDM dictionary/composite MDM dictionary:

Click the Save button.
Confirm the operation in the information window when going to the object navigator.

To open a dictionary for view:

In the web application:

Select the Open item in the dictionary's context menu.
Select the Open in a New Tab item in the dictionary's context menu.
Select the Open in a New Window item in the dictionary's context menu.
Double-click the dictionary.
Press the ENTER key.

In the desktop application:

Click the Open button in the Open group on the Home ribbon tab.
Select the Open item in the dictionary's context menu.

NOTE. When a dictionary opens, only the first 100 elements are displayed, the rest is loaded consecutively in real time.

Dictionary Views

MDM Dictionary

Main menu. It contains a list of commands used for executing various operations with repository objects or their setup.
Tab area. It contains tabs that are used for working with elements, setting up structure and translation. It contains the Dictionary Elements, Description and Translations tabs. It is available in the desktop application if the dictionary is opened for edit.
Toolbar. It is used to execute operations with dictionary elements.
Parameters panel. It contains boxes for entering parameter values. When parameters are used, the elements with multiple values are displayed in the tree if at least one element value corresponds to the selected parameter. Multiple element values must be specified before creating parameters. The Actuality Date box is displayed for a version dictionary. If the dictionary contains linked attributes, the Possible Attribute Values area displays names of linked attributes for them. The panel is available only for parametric MDM dictionaries.
Working area. It displays dictionary elements in accordance with the specified parameter values (if there are any) and with user access permissions. It also displays all attributes, for which the Hidden checkbox is deselected, and their values, if there are any.
Attribute values panel. It displays attribute values of the element selected in the working area.
Status bar. It displays the number of dictionary elements.

NOTE. Working with MDM dictionary in the web application is available both in the new and the old interface. The old interface is identical to the MDM dictionary interface in the desktop application. If it is required to work with MDM dictionary in the old interface, add the modules field in the config.json configuration file.

Composite MDM Dictionary

The Source Dictionary Elements area. It displays source dictionary elements and attribute values if they are not hidden and values are set.
The Source box. It is used to select a source MDM dictionary specified on the Sources tab.
