The Facts Page: Standard Cube

Facts describe the data, which is seen by the user on building a cube. For example, it may be a set of some factual and standard values by any indicators, or it may be the values obtained in calculation by set formulas.

Cube dimensions determine coordinate axes in the cube, while facts represent various values at each point of the obtained coordinate system. These are the values that are seen and edited by the user.

Fact dimension can be created manually or can be based on the existing repository dictionary.

To use the existing dictionary as a cube fact dimension:

In the web application:

Go to the Select Dictionary tab.
Select the dictionary in the drop-down list with available fact sources.

In the desktop application:

Select the Use Existing Dictionary radio button.
Select the repository dictionary in the drop-down list. If a parametric dictionary is selected, the Determine Parameter Values dialog box opens, in which set parameter values. When values are determined, the selected dictionary is opened and its elements are used as cube facts. To change values of dictionary parameters, click the Parameter Values button.

A warning message is displayed if the list of cube facts is previously locally specified.

To use local fact dimension:

In the web application go to the Determine Facts Locally panel.
In the desktop application select the Define List of Facts and Their Hierarchy Locally for Cube radio button.

To add elements or subelements, click the Add Element and Add Subelement buttons.

To rename the selected fact:

In the web application click the Actions button and select the Rename item in the drop-down menu.
In the desktop application click the Rename button.

To delete the selected fact:

In the web application click the Actions button and select the Delete item in the drop-down menu.
In the desktop application click the Delete button.

To change the order of the selected fact in the list, use the Up or Down buttons. In the desktop application drag the fact to change its order in the list.

To hide fact dimensions during cube creation, select the Hide Fact Dimension in Reports checkbox. The actual values will be displayed or edited by the first fact.

NOTE. The setting is relevant if the fact dimension contains only one element.
