Getting Started with the ETL Task Tool in the Desktop Application

To create a new ETL task in the object navigator:

• Click the New Object > Other > ETL Task button in the Create group on the Home ribbon tab.

• Select the Create > Other > ETL Task item in the object navigator context menu.

To open ready ETL task for edit:

• Select the Edit item in the ETL task's context menu.

• Click the Edit button on the Home ribbon tab.

• Select the ETL task and press F4.

To open ready ETL task for view:

• Select the Open item in the ETL task's context menu.

• Click the Open button on the Home ribbon tab.

• Double-click the ETL task.

The main window of ETL task contains the following elements:

• Main menu. It contains a list of commands that are used to execute various operations with ETL task and its objects.

• Toolbar. It contains commands combined in logic groups. Commands are used to set up parameters and to manage objects in working area.

• Connectors and transformers toolbar. It is displayed only in ETL task edit mode. The objects toolbar is used to add objects of specific type to the working area. The panel contains four tabs:

• Providers.

• Consumers.

• Transformers.

• Other.

• Working area. A container, in which an ETL task data export/import chain is built.
