Setting Up X Axis Scale

To display minor tick marks, select the Number of Tick Marks radio button in the Minor Tick Marks group and determine the required number of tick marks using the keyboard or value editor.

NOTE. Minor tick marks on the category axis are not added between the major tick marks as on the value axis but are displayed instead of the major ones.

By default, minor tick marks are not displayed, and the None radio button is selected:

In the figure below the X axis has minor tick marks position set to On Categories, and the number of tick marks is set to 1:

In the Tick Marks Position group select the required tick marks position:

• On Categories.

• Between Categories.

Select the position where the axis should appear on plotting the chart in the Axis Position group:

• On Categories. On plotting the chart the category axis crosses the value axis in the middle of a category:

NOTE. If the X axis is plotted on categories for a 3D chart, the chart can be shifted outside the plot area.

• Between Categories. On plotting the chart the category axis crosses the value axis at the beginning of a category:

Select how the X axis should cross the Y axis, in the Crosses Y Axis drop-down list:

• Auto. Automatic axis position: crosses the Y axis at the minimum value. Default.

• At the Specified Point. Crosses the Y axis at the specified point. If this option is selected, the box to specify point value opens.

NOTE. If the axis crosses the Y axis, and is shifted, the X axis is positioned on crossing with the Y axis at the specified point with the specified offset.

• Maximum Value. Crosses the Y axis at the maximum value. Axes labels are outside the plot area.

To show tick marks of hidden labels, select the Show Tick Marks for Hidden Labels checkbox.

To show axis values in reverse order, select the Reverse Order of Categories checkbox. The perpendicular axis moves to the opposite edge of the plot area.

Below is the example of a chart without the reverse order (left) and with the reverse order (right):

NOTE. Axis values can be placed in the reverse order in all types of chart, except for the radar chart.

To set up the interval between labels, select the appropriate radio button:

• Auto. Interval between labels is calculated automatically.

• Set. Set the required interval using the keyboard or value editor.

NOTE. Default interval value is 1. Available values: 1-999.

NOTE. If the displayed labels are set manually in the regular report (that is, if in the Set Up View of Category Axis Labels dialog box the checkbox of even one element is deselected), the Interval Between Labels control is not available.

To change the interval between tick marks, set the required interval using the Interval Between Tick Marks value editor.

Default value is set to 1. Available values: 1-999.
