Setting Up Button

Tool interfaces in the web application and in the desktop application are identical, and differences in functionality are given in appropriate comments.

Setting Up Button

The Button control enables the user to execute various commands on the button click.

To set up block parameters, use the Block and Command side panel tabs.

Setting Up Basic Parameters

Besides the parameters available for all dashboard objects, additional settings are also available for a button:

Font. Select one of the fonts available in the operating system.
Font size. Set the required font size. The size is set in points, and it can be selected in the drop-down list or entered manually. Available values range: [1; 72].
Font style. Click the buttons that determine font style:

B. Bold.
I. Italic.
U. Underline.

When the button is pressed, the corresponding font style is used. Several styles can be used simultaneously, for example, pressed buttons B and I result in bold italic font style.

Title text alignment. Set title alignment relative to the object:

Left.
Center. Default value.
Right.
By Width.

Font color. Select font color in the drop-down color palette. To set a new font color, go to the Spectrum tab in the color palette and choose a color in the advanced color palette.

Managing Commands

To manage the action, which is executed on the button click, use the Command side panel tab.

Click the Add Command button to add a command. In the drop-down menu of the button select the required commands executed on the button click, and set command parameters:

In the drop-down list select the object to be shown or hidden.

In the drop-down list select the object to be shown.

In the drop-down list select the object to be hidden.

Select exported object: the whole document or a block.
Select export format in the drop-down list.

After executing the operations, clicking the button exports the required document blocks or the whole document to the file of the specified format.

TIP. To export several blocks, add several Export items.

In the drop-down list select the object to be printed with opening a preview window and print options dialog box.

In the web application:

Click the Browse button.
Select the required report in the repository dialog box that opens.

In the desktop application select the report to be opened in the drop-down list.

After executing the operations, clicking the button opens the selected report. The report should be in the same repository that contains the dashboard.

To search for reports in the repository:

In the web application enter search text in the Search box and press the ENTER key.
In the desktop application:

Click the Search button and enter the text to search.
Enter text to search, the focus must be on the collapsed tree of repository objects.

As the string is entered to the field, the elements list shows only the objects, which names contain the entered string.

In the web application:

Click the Browse button.
Select the required object in the repository dialog box that opens.
In the Opening Mode drop-down list select the mode of opening a repository object: Open or Edit. Depending on the type of object the drop-down list shows only the modes available for the selected object in the object navigator.

In the desktop application:

In the Open Object drop-down list select an object that will be opened. The object must be in the same repository that contains the dashboard.
In the Opening Mode drop-down list select the mode of opening a repository object: Open or Edit. Depending on the type of object the drop-down list shows only the modes available for the selected object in the object navigator.

After executing th operations, clicking the button opens the selected repository object in the specified mode. The object should be in the same repository that contains the dashboard.

To search for objects in the repository:

In the web application enter search text in the Search box and press the ENTER key.
In the desktop application:

Click the Search button and enter the text to search.
Enter text to search, the focus must be on the collapsed tree of repository objects.

As the string is entered to the field, the elements list shows only the objects, which names contain the entered string.

Select the object that will be refreshed in the drop-down list.

Enter URL of the resource that will be opened on the button click.

The command is set up for the Button and Image blocks and can be used to transfer single dimension selection to a visualizer on block click.

To set the command:

Select a visualizer, for which dimension selection should be set, in the Link drop-down list.
Select dimension selection of the required block in the Selection drop-down list. Only single dimension selection is available.

After executing the operations, clicking the button sets the selected dimension selection for the required block.

NOTE. The command is available only in the web application.

Specify name of the JS-function that must be started on the button click. This may be a system and a custom JS-function.

NOTE. The item is available only for dashboards in slide mode.

Select the slide to be shown in the drop-down list.

The command is set up for the Button and Image blocks and can be used to restore the released state of the other buttons and images if the Active Button checkbox is selected for them.

To set up the command, select in the drop-down list the block that will be turned to normal state. The Button and Image blocks, for which the Active Button checkbox is selected, can only be selected.

NOTE. The command is available only in the web application.

If a number of commands are set for a single button, they are executed according to the order in the Command tab.
