Connecting to File Servers

To sort a list of file resources by name or domain, click the button to the right of the Name or Domain headers.

After executing the operation the settings list is sorted.

To filter file resources in the list:

1. Click the Add Filter button.

2. Select filtering option in the drop-down list:

• Name. Enter setting name or its part.

• Protocol. In the drop-down list select the SMB/CIFS, NFS3, NFS4 or S3 protocol.

NOTE. Multiple selection of protocols is available.

After executing the operations the file resources list is filtered according to the specified conditions.

To add a connection setting:

1. Click the Set Up New Connection button.

After executing the operation settings of connection to file server folder are displayed:

2. Set parameters:

• Name. Enter connection setting name. The name must consist of Latin letters, numbers, underscores or hyphen. The box is mandatory.

• Protocol. Select protocol type in the drop-down list:

• SMB/CIFS. The network access protocol for file systems that enables the user to execute operations with files via file server connection to a local computer file system. Access is given only to specific users.

NOTE. If the SMB/CIFS protocol is selected, also set authentication type.

• NFS3. The network access protocol for NFS3 file systems that enables the user to execute operations with files via file server connection to a local computer file system.

• NFS4. Improved version of NFS3 protocol due to reduced network burden, reduced delays on request and response transfer in network, improved security of stored data while supporting a number of file attributes.

• S3. The protocol of network access to S3 systems that allows for executing operations with large files from any part of the world. The protocol is compatible with the Amazon S3 object data storage.

NOTE. When the S3 protocol is selected, also set region, bucket, access key, and secret key.

The box is mandatory.

• Host. Specify IP address or DNS name of file server. To check connection, click the Check Availability button. If the answer is yes, the Response Received green button is displayed; if the answer is no, the Unavailable red button is displayed. If the host is unavailable, check internet connection or server connection settings by the specified host. The box is mandatory.

• Path. Specify path to a file server folder. The box is mandatory.

NOTE. The box is available only for the SMB/CIFS, NFS3, NFS4 protocols.

Additional parameters of SMB/CIFS protocol:

• Authentication Type. Select user authentication type in the drop-down list:

• Credentials. If the file server allows access only for specific users, enter the existing user name, domain, and password to appropriate boxes.

NOTE. The User Name and Passwords boxes are mandatory.

• Guest Login. If the file server allows access for all users, each user can execute operations with files without user name and password request.

• LDAP. If the file server allows access only for API users, login and password of authorized API user are used.

The box is mandatory.

Additional parameters of the S3 protocol:

• Region. Enter region name if one host owns several servers located in different geographical locations.

• Bucket. Enter name of the section located on the file server. The box is mandatory.

• Access Key. Enter the public access key that is used to connect to the file server. The box is mandatory.

• Secret Key. Enter the private access key that is used to connect to the file server. The box is mandatory.

NOTE. The secret key contents is hidden by default. To display or hide the key contents, use the button next to the secret key.

3. Click the Check Connection button to check the specified parameters of connection to the file server folder. If the answer is Yes, the Connection Successful green button is displayed; if the answer is No, the Connection Failed red button is displayed. If a connection error occurred, check internet connection or connection settings for a file server folder.

NOTE. If LDAP authentication is used, it is not available to check connection setting.

4. Click the Save button.

After executing the operation the connection setting for a file server folder is added to the settings list. The file server is ready to exchange requests with the mobile platform.

To edit connection setting to a file server folder:

1. Click the Change button next to the setting name.

After executing the operation the Edit Connection dialog box opens:

2. Change parameters specified on adding a connection setting.

3. Click the Check Connection button to check changed parameters of connection to the file server folder. If the answer is Yes, the Connection Successful green button is displayed; if the answer is No, the Connection Failed red button is displayed. If a connection error occurred, check internet connection or connection settings for a file server folder.

4. Click the Save button.

After executing the operation the connection settings to a file server folder are edited and refreshed in the settings list.

To delete connection setting for a file server folder, click the Delete button next to setting name.

After executing the operation it is asked to confirm deletion of connection setting. If the answer is yes, the setting is deleted from the list.
