Getting Started with the Analytical Queries (OLAP) Tool

To create a new express report:

• In the object navigator:

• Click the New Object > Express Report button in the Create group on the Home ribbon tab.

• Select the Create > Express report item in the object navigator's context menu. The command is available only in the desktop application.

• Select a cube or a time series database and:

• Click the Open > In Analytical Queries (OLAP) button in the Open group of the Home ribbon tab.

• Select the Open With > Analytical Queries (OLAP) item in the context menu of the selected object. The command is available only in the desktop application.

• Select the Open in Analytical Queries (OLAP) item in the time series database's context menu. The command is available only in the web application.

Using this creation method, the table, built using selected object slice, will be added to the express report.

• In the Analytical Queries (OLAP) tool select the New Report item in the Report main menu.

To open a ready express report for edit or view:

• In the object navigator select the express report and execute one of the operations:

• Click the Open button in the Open group of the Home ribbon tab.

• Select the Open item in the express report's context menu. The command is available only in the web application.

• Double-click the report.

• Open the Report main menu in the Analytical Queries (OLAP) tool and select the express report opening option:

• Open. In the dialog box that opens select the express report in the object navigator.

• Open > Open From File. A standard file selection dialog box opens. Specify a file with the extension *.ppexpress, *.p5e, *.ppcube, *.p5c or *.p5p.

Express report editing is used by default. If only viewing is available, the user does not have permissions to edit express report. All capabilities of the edit mode and saving a copy of express report are available.

• Main menu. It contains a list of commands that are used to execute various operations with express reports.

• Ribbon. It contains buttons for creating and setting up an express report.

• Side panel. It contains express report parameter settings and settings for managing data source dimensions.

• Quick access toolbar. It contains frequently used commands.

• Status bar. It contains calculation results of basic aggregates of the selected table cell range.

• Sheet tabs. They are used to manage express report sheets.

• Working area. It is used to build an express report.

Use the Current Document group of tabs.

In the Formatting Styles Collection drop-down list select the styles table, which styles will be used to format visualizers in the current express report.

Use the Analytical Queries group of tabs.

Set shortcut keys to quickly access main menu and ribbon commands by using the Interface tab.

Determine platform settings using the following tabs:

• External Units. Set program units expanding capabilities of Foresight Analytics Platform.

• Update. Determine version update parameters of Foresight Analytics Platform.

• Language Settings. Select the interface and help system language of Foresight Analytics Platform.

• Connection. Determine proxy server settings to allow the access of Foresight Analytics Platform to the Internet.

• Help. Determine help type used by Foresight Analytics Platform.
