Setting Up Data Source Dimension Synchronization

The first method:

• Select the Sync Settings item in the context menu of the block, for which the dimension synchronization settings are available.

The second method:

1. Make sure that the side panel is displayed.

2. Select the block, for which dimension synchronization can be set up, in the working area.

3. If a visualizer is selected, select the Block radio button on the side panel.

4. Go to the Dimension Synchronization tab.

3. Go to the Document Dimension Synchronization tab.

A link can be created:

• Based on one or several blocks already used in any link. To create a link:

1. Go to the Document Dimension Synchronization tab on the side panel.

2. Select the blocks used in one link.

3. Click the New Link button or drag the selected links to the end of the link list.

The selected links will be excluded from the link. They are used to create a new link, which is displayed on the Document Dimension Synchronization tab.

• Based on several blocks having equal dimensions. To create a link:

1. Select several blocks in the working area.

2. Click the Link button on the Home ribbon tab.

3. The New Link dialog box opens:

The dialog box shows general unlinked block dimensions. If the blocks do not have common unlinked dimensions, the corresponding message appears.

4. Select the checkboxes next to the dimensions that are used to create links. To select all dimensions, select the Dimension checkbox.

A new link is created based on each selected dimension. All created links will be displayed on the Document Dimension Synchronization tab.

1. Select the required link. The desktop application enables the user to select multiple links.

2. Click the Delete button.

The selected link is deleted from all the blocks, in which it is used, without request to confirm the action.

The selected block will be deleted from the link without request to confirm the action.

A block can be moved from one link to the other if these links are related to the same dimension.

To move a block from one link to the other:

1. Select the required block. The desktop application enables the user to select multiple blocks, also in different links.

2. Hold down the main mouse button and drag the selected block to the required link.

The link will be moved to the selected block without request to confirm the action.

To highlight the block using link, select the required block on the tab. The corresponding block is highlighted in the working area.

To highlight all the blocks using a link, select the required link on the tab. The corresponding blocks are highlighted in the working area.

For example, there are the Table and Chart visualizers configured to a single data source. Link 1 (Calendar) is mapped with the calendar dimension in each visualizer in the Selection Synchronization group. There is a List control configured to this link.

The behavior of blocks on changing selection in calendar dimension is as follows:

• Changing selection in the control affects both visualizers.

• Changing selection in the Table visualizer affects the Chart visualizer and control.

• Changing selection in the Chart visualizer affects the Table visualizer and control.

For example, there are the Table and Chart visualizers configured to a single data source. Link 1 (Calendar) is mapped with the calendar dimension in the visualizer in the Selection Synchronization group. There is a List control configured to this link. The calendar dimension in the Chart visualizer is independent.

The behavior of blocks on changing selection in calendar dimension is as follows:

• Changing selection in the control affects the Table visualizer only.

• Changing selection in the Table visualizer affects the control only.

• Changing selection in the Chart visualizer does not affect any block.

For example, there are the Table and Chart visualizers configured to a single data source.

Link 1 (Calendar) is mapped with the calendar dimension in the Chart and Table visualizers in the Selected Data Synchronization group. Changing selection in the Table visualizer affects the Chart visualizer and vice versa. If the user selects a data column in the Table visualizer, the series corresponding to this column are autoselected in the Chart visualizer:

Link 1 (Calendar) is mapped with the calendar dimension in the Chart and Table visualizers in the Selected Data Synchronization group. Only input of selection is set in the Table visualizer. As the result, changing selection in the Chart visualizer affects the Table visualizer, but selection in the Table visualizer does not affect the Chart visualizer. For example, if the user selects a series in the Chart visualizer, corresponding data is autoselected in the Table visualizer:

Link 1 (Calendar) is mapped with the calendar dimension in the Table visualizer in the Selected Data Synchronization group and this link is mapped with the calendar dimension in the Chart visualizer in the Selection Synchronization group.

As a result, changing selection in the Table visualizer affects selection in the Chart visualizer. For example, if data column is selected in the Table visualizer, the selection in the Chart visualizer will be automatically changed in such a way that it includes only data selected in the Table visualizer. The Chart visualizer will be rebuilt according to the selection:
