Setting Up Contents

To set up common chart legend contents, go to the Contents tab of the Legend Parameters dialog box.

TIP. To quickly set up common chart legend contents, click the

Select Data button on the Legend ribbon tab. The Legend Parameters dialog box opens with the focus on the Contents tab.

The list contains all charts available on the report sheet. On opening the Legend Parameters dialog box, the charts, selected on the report sheet at the legend creation, are automatically checked in the list of charts that appear in the legend.

To deselect all charts:

Click the Deselect All button.
Select the Deselect All context menu item.

To select all charts:

Click the Select All button.
Select the Select All context menu item.

NOTE. If the legend components change, the list of legend elements rebuilds.

The list is used to determine the order of legend elements. The following operations are available to determine the order of elements in the common legend:

Change chart elements order. To move the selected common legend element:

Drag the element to the required position.
Click the Up or Down button to move the legend element one position up or down.
Select the Up or Down context menu items of the legend element to move it one position up or down.

Hide or show legend elements. Select or deselect checkboxes next to legend elements that should be hidden or shown in the common legend.
Merge legend elements. To merge legend elements into one:

Hold down the CTRL key and click each legend element in the list. To set a range of legend elements, select the required element at the beginning of the range, hold down the SHIFT key and click the required element at the end of the range.
Execute one of the operations:

Click the Merge button.
Select the Merge context menu item.

When elements are merged, the text and the icon are changed. A separator is used when merging series text (the default separator is a comma). To change the separator, select the Change Separator context menu item. The Text Separator dialog box opens where the user can enter in a new separator. Names of merged elements change on changing the separator.

Split series. To split the selected composite element into components:

Click the Split button.
Select the Split context menu item.

NOTE. If the element is not composite, it is not split into components.

Restore initial state. To split all elements into their components and restore initial elements order, click the Default button.
