Setting Up Common Chart Legend

To work with the tool in Foresight Analytics Platform 10, use the new interface.

The Chart Legend object is used to create a chart legend as an independent object that is not linked to a specific chart. A legend can include data of several charts contained in the report.

Setting Up Common Chart Legend Style

To keep uniform chart legend style, applied within the current report, use legend style:

To create a common chart legend formatting style:

Select a common chart legend.
Go to the Legend ribbon tab.
Click the button in the Legend Style group.
Select the Create New Style item.
Enter style name in the dialog box that opens.

The style template is added to the Legend Style group. For example:

The template contains specified formatting settings of common legend:

To use uniform common chart legend style in several regular reports, export the created style to external styles.

To apply a style to common chart legend:

Select a common chart legend.
Go to the Legend ribbon tab. Then:

Click the style in the Legend Style group.
Select the Apply item in the style's context menu.

The selected style is applied to common chart legend formatting.

To rename common chart legend style:

Select a common chart legend.
Go to the Legend ribbon tab.
Select the required style in the Legend Style group.
Select the Rename item in the style's context menu.

Enter a new style name in the dialog box that opens.

To delete common chart legend style:

Select a common chart legend.
Go to the Legend ribbon tab.
Select the required style in the Legend Style group.
Select the Delete item in the style's context menu.

A confirmation request for deleting the selected style appears.

To keep uniform common chart legend style in several regular reports, use styles table:

A common chart legend can be formatted by means of external styles saved in :

Select a common chart legend.
Go to the Legend ribbon tab.
Click the button in the Legend Style group.
Select the Set Up External Styles item. The Parameters dialog box opens.
Go to the Settings tab. In the Format Styles drop-down list select the styles table containing common chart legend styles.

The styles from the styles table are added to the Legend Style group, these styles can be applied to format common chart legend.

To export the created style of common chart legend into external styles:

Select a common chart legend.
Go to the Legend ribbon tab.
Select a style in the Legend Style group, then:

Click the button in the Legend Style group and select the Export to External Styles item.
Select the Export to External Styles item in the style's context menu.

In the dialog box that opens select .

The selected style is exported to the specified .

On connecting the styles table, to which the style is exported, to the report, the icon appears at the top right corner of the template, and the style template will look as follows:

If identifier of the exported style matches the identifier of the style from the styles table, it is prompted to select the action:

Select the Apply in All Similar Cases checkbox to apply the selected action in all similar cases.

Click one of the buttons:

Keep Both. The exported style is added to the styles table with a new unique identifier.
Replace. The style in the current styles table is replaced with the exported one.
Skip. The style is not exported to the styles table.
Cancel. Export operation is cancelled.

To disable external styles table:

Select a common chart legend.
Go to the Legend ribbon tab.
Click the button in the Legend Style group.
Select the Disable External Styles item.

The external styles table is disabled. Before the styles table is disabled, it is prompted to copy styles from the external table to the current report.
