Table Fields

To add a new field:

• In the web application click the Add button. A line is added to the end of the list, in which specify field properties.

• In the desktop application:

• Click the Add button.

• Double-click the fields list area.

The Table Field Properties dialog box opens, in which set field properties:

One can add a description of fields of earlier created tables to a currently created table. To do this, click the Pick Up button. Select the existing table in the opened dialog box. Descriptions of selected table's fields are added to the list of fields of the created table.

Set field properties:

• Type/Data Type. Select data type in the drop-down list:

• String.

• Integer.

• Real.

• Date and Time.

• Custom. It is available only in the desktop application.

• Text. It stores data determined in a database character set or in a national character set if the database uses Unicode for data presentation. It is available only in the desktop application.

• Binary. It stores non-structured binary data. It is available only in the desktop application.

The string data type is selected by default.

NOTE. Oracle DBMS supports the Text and Binary data types only for Oracle 9.x or later versions. The principles of work with such fields are given in the Working with Fields of Custom Data Type section.

• Name. Enter a name that describes field value. The default name: Field <Number>.

• Identifier. Determine a unique table field name to be used for SQL queries and to determine links between tables. Identifier can have only Latin letters, numbers and underline character. The default identifier: FIELD<Number>.

• Total Length. Determine the maximum length of table field: this value represents the number of characters for the character type or the number of digits for the numeric type.

• Decimal Places. Determine the number of fractional decimal places for numeric fields.

• Empty Values. Determine whether a field can store empty values using a checkbox in the web application or a drop-down list in the desktop application.

• Default Value. Determine the value that goes automatically into every new created table field. For example, one can enter the most frequently occurring value.

• Value/Calculated Field. Determine whether a field is calculated using a drop-down list in the web application or a checkbox in the desktop application. When a calculated field is set, a confirmation dialog box opens warning the user about deleting all field data. After the operation is confirmed, set a formula, which will calculate field value. To do this, click the Insert into Formula button in the web application or the Insert into Formula button in the desktop application. The expression editor window opens.

To change the number of displayed properties in the web application, select or deselect checkboxes next to property names in the drop-down menu of the Settings button.

To edit parameters of the selected table field:

• In the web application change values in the corresponding columns.

• In the desktop application:

• Click the Edit button.

• Double-click field name.

The Table Field Properties dialog box opens, in which change corresponding properties.

NOTE. If field identifier and other properties were changed on field editing, only the identifier changes are applied.

To delete the selected fields:

• In the web application click the Delete button

• In the desktop application click the Delete button or press CTRL+DELETE.

A confirmation dialog box opens.

Operands are displayed on the expression editor's operands panel:

Other table fields and parameters are used as operands.
