The Non-Unique Keys Page: Composite MDM Dictionary

The Non-Unique Keys page in the web application and in the desktop application is used to create and set up non-unique keys.

A non-unique key is an additional identifier for dictionary records. It is used to:

Set up attribute as an alternative hierarchy.
Set index to link with alternative hierarchies.

A key may contain:

A single dictionary attribute, which values can be repeated for each element.
Several attributes, which values are non-unique.

Operations with Non-Unique Keys

To add a non-unique key:

In the web application click the Add button. A new key will be added to the list of non-unique keys. Key name and identifier will be set by default. The default value of the Name property - ITEM<Number>. The default value of the Identifier property is NUI<Number>.
In the desktop application:

Click the Add button.
Select the Add item in the context menu on the empty area of the Non-Unique Keys tab.
Double-click the empty area of the Non-Unique Keys tab.

The Non-Unique Key Properties dialog box opens:

Set non-unique key properties:

Name. Enter non-unique key name.
Identifier. Enter non-unique key identifier. Only Latin characters, numbers and underscores are allowed; spaces are not allowed.
Attribute Entries. The list contains checkboxes corresponding to all dictionary attributes. Select one or several attributes that must be included into a non-unique key.

To edit properties of the selected non-unique key:

In the web application change properties in corresponding columns of the required non-unique key on the Non-Unique Keys page of the dictionary wizard.
In the desktop application:

Click the Edit button.
Select the Edit item in the non-unique key's context menu.
Double-click the name of the non-unique key.

Make necessary changes in the Non-Unique Key Properties dialog box for MDM dictionary/composite MDM dictionary.

To delete the selected non-unique key:

In the web application click the Delete button.
In the desktop application:

Click the Delete button.
Press CTRL+DELETE.
Select the Delete item in the non-unique key's context menu.

A confirmation to execute the operation is requested.

To change the number of displayed properties in the web application, click the Settings button and select or deselect the checkbox next to property names.

The function is available using the Fore language. A non-unique index in the dictionary's child table enables the user to execute queries quicker.

To create a non-unique index:

Create or get the existing non-unique key in the dictionary.
Cast the obtained key to the IMetaIndex interface.
Set the IMetaIndex.Enabled property to True.
Save changes.

As a result, a non-unique index is created in the dictionary's child table based on the non-unique key from the dictionary.

NOTE. If the non-unique key in the dictionary contains imported attributes or attributes with multiple values, a non-unique index cannot be created on its basis.
