Data Sources

To add a source:

• Click the Add button.

• Select the Add item in the context menu of the Source list area.

• Double-click on the list area without elements.

After executing the command the source selection dialog box opens.

NOTE. Multidimensional calculation sources can be only the standard cubes, which facts should be bound to the numeric fields only.

When sources are added, the following conditions must be satisfied:

• Data sources must have the same DBMS type.

• Sources and objects included in the source must belong to the same database.

• If sources are on the same server, but in different schemas, the Use Login Credentials checkbox should be selected for their database.

A message informing, that this source cannot be added, is displayed if the sources do not meet these requirements.

NOTE. If the source cube is based on a query or a view, the text of the SQL query used to extract data must start with the Select keyword.

IMPORTANT. If the data source does not contain data, calculation on DB server is not executed.

A primary set must be selected from the added sources, which affects data extraction.

The data from the cubes, included in the primary set, is used to form the set of points, which are to be used for calculation. The cubes that are not included in the primary set are used to extract only the data corresponding to the created set of points.

NOTE. The first added sources are automatically included into the primary set.

To include or exclude a source from the primary set:

• Select or deselect the checkbox next to the cube name.

• Select the Include in Primary Set or Exclude from Primary Set context menu item.

Excluding a source from the primary set is not available, if this source is the only source in the primary set.

The order of cubes does not affect calculation results, but it affects how the set of points for calculation is formed.

To change the order of sources:

• Use the Up and Down buttons.

• Select the Up or Down items in the cube's context menu.

• Drag the source to the required position.

A formula table should be created anew if the order of sources is changed.

To view the object in the object navigator, select the Go to Object item in the context menu of the data source. After executing the command the focus is moved to the selected cube in the object navigator window.

To delete one or several selected sources:

• Click the Delete button.

• Select the Delete item in the context menu of selected sources.

A confirmation message is displayed when one of the operations is complete.
