Working with Cubes

Opening a cube results in creating its OLAP view by default or express report in terms of Foresight Analytics Platform.

After setup this express report can be used as default cube view. It will open automatically when the cube opens.

NOTE. If a cube is used as a workbook data source it does not require dictionary binding to MDM repository.

To open a cube for edit in the object navigator select the cube and execute one of the operations:

In the web application:

Select the Edit item in the cube's context menu.
Select the Edit in a New Tab item in the cube's context menu.
Select the Edit in a New Window item in the cube's context menu.
Press F4.

In the desktop application:

Click the Edit button in the Open group on the Home ribbon tab.
Select the Edit item in the cube's context menu.
Press F4.

After executing one of the operations, the table wizard opens.

To save a new cube or open a cube for edit in the cube wizard:

In the web application:

Click the Save button
Select the Save and Close item in the drop-down menu of the Save button. After this the specified settings are saved, the cube wizard closes, and the object navigator opens.

NOTE. The Save and Close item ie available only on cube editing.

In the desktop application click the Finish button.

To open a cube for view in the object navigator select the cube and execute one of the operations:

In the web application:

Select the Open item in the cube's context menu.
Select the Open in a New Window item in the cube's context menu.
Double-click the cube.
Press the ENTER key.

In the desktop application:

Click the Open button in the Open group on the Home ribbon tab.
Select the Open item in the cube's context menu.

The express report that has been previously saved for this source opens.

To open a cube in the other tool, select the corresponding item in the drop-down menu of the Open button on the Home ribbon tab:

In Dashboard.
In Reports.

On opening a cube view in express report, check if cube source has any new dimensions absent in cube view.

NOTE. To remove a child express report, select the Remove Saved View item in the cube's context menu. This context menu item is not available if no express report has been saved for the source.
