A cube view is used to truncate the amount of data provided by any other cube. A cube of any type is required to create a cube view. Initially, all dimensions of the source cube are available in the cube view. To truncate the amount of data, the required dimensions are "fixed", that is, fixed dimension is set for dimension elements. Therefore, the dimension of output cube view is decreased.
NOTE. If a cube with configured attachments binding is selected as a source cube, the cube view will also have this option.
When a cube view is opened in express report, it is checked if source cube has new dimensions absent in the cube view.
The already opened cube view is refreshed according to the new list of dimensions, therefore when data sources are reopened, the actual list of dimensions will be refreshed.
The cube view wizard contains the pages:
Basic Settings/Basic Properties. It is used to set object name, identifier and comment.
Parameters. It is used to set a list of parameters.
Source Cube. A cube is set, based on which the current cube view is built.
Fixing Dimensions. Dimension elements are fixed to reduce the structure of created cube view.
Units and Indicators. Dictionaries are specified, which are used to organize automatic data scaling into required measurement units.
Managing Parameters. Passing of parameter values to open objects used in the cube is set up.
Controlling Dimensions. Interaction between parametric cube dimensions and other dimensions is set up.
