Setting Up Table Style

To work with table formatting styles, use standard color schemes on the Table ribbon tab:

Setting Up Cells Style

To ensure uniform formatting of the tables within the same workbook, use a table cells style:

To create a table formatting style:

Go to the Table ribbon tab.
Click the button in the Cell Style group.
Select the Create New Style item.
In the dialog box that opens enter style name.

A style template is added to the Cell Style group. For example:

TIP. To use uniform table formatting in multiple workbooks, export the created style to external styles.

To apply the style selected in the Table tab to the table:

Click the style in the Cell Style group.
Select the Apply style's context menu item.

NOTE. In the web application click the style template to apply a style to table.

The selected style is applied to the table formatting.

To edit cell style:

Select cell style in the Cell Style group on the Table ribbon tab.
Select the Edit item in the style's context menu.

The formatting dialog box opens for the cell.

NOTE. The operation is available only in the desktop application.

To rename table style:

Go to the Table ribbon tab.
Select the required style in the Cell Style group.
Select the Rename item in the style's context menu.

In the dialog box that opens enter new style name.

To export the created table style to external styles:

Go to the Table ribbon tab.
Select a style in the Cell Style group, then:

Click the button and select the Export to External Styles item.
Select the Export to External Styles item in style's context menu.

In the dialog box that opens select a styles table.

The selected style is exported to the specified styles table.

If identifier of the exported style matches the identifier of the style stored in the styles table, a message appears where the user can select what to do:

Select the Apply in All Similar Cases checkbox to apply the selected operation in all similar cases.

Click one of the buttons:

Keep Both. The exported style is added to the styles table with a new unique identifier.
Replace. The style in the current styles table is replaced with the exported one.
Skip. The style is not exported to styles table.
Cancel. Style export is canceled.

NOTE. The operation is available only in the desktop application.

To delete table style:

Go to the Table ribbon tab.
Select the required style in the Cell Style group.
Select the Delete item in the style's context menu.

The user is requested to confirm deletion of the selected style.

Use of Styles Table

To use uniform table formatting in multiple workbooks, use the connected styles table:

NOTE. Connecting styles table is available only in the desktop application. The connected styles table styles are available in the web and desktop applications.

A table can be formatted by means of external styles saved in styles table:

Go to the Table ribbon tab.
Click the button in the Cell Style group.
Select the Set Up External Styles item.
The Parameters dialog box opens. On the General tab in the Formatting Styles Collection drop-down list select the required styles table.

The styles table is connected. Styles from the styles table to apply for table formatting are added to the particular category.

NOTE. Only one styles table can be connected to one workbook.

NOTE. Disconnecting styles table is available only in the desktop application.

To disconnect an external styles table:

Go to the Table ribbon tab.
Click the button in the Cell Style group.
Select the Disable External Styles item.

The external styles table is disconnected. Before it is disconnected, the user is prompted to copy table styles to the current workbook. If the workbook contains styles with the same name, they are replaced.
