Series Data Drilldown and Drillup

Data drilldown and drillup are available in the Analytical Queries (OLAP), Dashboards and Reports tools.

Data drilldown is the operation, which enables the user to move through data levels: from general to specific. Available drilldown depth is determined by the hierarchy of data source dimensions.

Drillup is the opposite operation to drilldown allowing to move from specific to general data.

NOTE. Drilldown is not available for the chart series corresponding to calculated values.

To drill down data:

Select the Drill Down item in data series's context menu.
Double-click the series.

To drill up data:

Select the Drill Up item in the data series's context menu.
Double-click the series while holding down the SHIFT key.

NOTE. In the Dashboards tool commands to drill down and drill up data are placed in the Chart group of data series's context menu.

When executing data drilldown or drillup, parent or child elements of appropriate dimension level are selected.

To display source selection specified on the Selection side panel tab or using the controls, after executing data drilldown or drillup select the Go Back to Original State item in the data series' context menu.

If data drilldown or drillup are executed several times, and dimension selection changes during one of the iterations, executing the Return to Original State item, after another data drilldown or drillup, the last set selection is displayed instead of the source one.

If during drilldown/drillup the level with no data opens, one should select the Return to Original State item in the data series' context menu.

NOTE. The Go Back to Original State item is available in the Analytical Queries (OLAP), Dashboards tools when selection is changed and then data is drilled down/drilled up. If data drilldown or drillup is not executed after the selection is changed, the item will be unavailable.

Example of Chart Series Drilldown and Drillup

The figure shows a table consisting of four dimension elements. The Tyumen Region element has child elements. This element is displayed as a hyperlink:

A chart was created based on this table:

Select the Tyumen Region series and select the Drill Down context menu item. The user will be moved to the child level of the Tyumen Region element, the chart will be rebuilt as follows:

To drill up data, use the Drill Up item in the context menu of the series. The chart will return its original appearance.
