Bubble Tree

A bubble tree displays hierarchical data as a set of interrelated bubbles. Each hierarchical branch is represented with a bubble related with bubbles that are elements of the same hierarchical level. All elements of the same branch and the same hierarchical level form a circle, the center of which shows the parent element of the hierarchy. Each bubble's diameter is proportional to the value of the corresponding hierarchical element. Bubble color also depends on value of the hierarchical element.

IMPORTANT. Before getting started with the visualizer make sure that system requirements to client computer (desktop application) and for BI server (web application) are met. The web application supports visualizers if the BI server is installed in Windows 7 or later. Visualizer appearance may differ depending on the graphic libraries in use (DirectX 10 or OpenGL).

Operations with Bubble Tree

In the Selection group of tabs map elements of metrics dimension and the following bubble tree parameters:

Bubble fill color. Select the Color radio button on the dimension tab and select the element, which values will be used to determine bubble fill.
Bubble diameter. Select the Size checkbox on the dimension tab and select the element, which values will be used to determine bubble size.

The bubble tree will be rebuilt according to the specified parameters.

NOTE. The option is available if the element that determines bubble fill color is determined in the metrics dimension.

Use the Color tab on the side panel.

The setup is similar to setup of the Map data view fill.

NOTE. The option is available if the element that determines bubble size is determined in the metrics dimension.

Use the Size tab on the Format tab group of the side panel.

Use the Tooltips tab of the Format tab group on the side panel.

The setup is executed similarly to tooltip setup for a bubble chart.

To set up formatting for color or size legend, use the Color Legend or Size Legend tab of the Format tab group of the side panel.

To drill down data, click the child bubble, to drill up data, click the parent bubble. A tree map will be rebuilt according to hierarchy of observation objects dimension.

To exclude data, select the Exclude item in the context menu of child bubble or parent bubble.

To exclude all data, except for the selected bubble,s elect the Exclude the Rest item in the context menu of child bubble or parent bubble.

To set up bubble tree style, use the Bubble Tree ribbon tab.

The setup is executed similarly to setting up the Bubble Chart visualizer style.

Differences in Bubble Tree Functionality in Desktop, Web and Mobile Applications

In the web and desktop applications the user can work with bubble trees. In the mobile application based on Foresight Mobile Platform the user can only view bubble trees. Depending on the application in use, there are the following differences in bubble tree functionality:
