Which Search Options Exist in Foresight Analytics Platform Help System?

• In the desktop application. Select the Help > Contents main menu item of object navigator. The local or online help opens depending on determined settings.

• In the web application. Click the button in the upper right corner of the object navigator. The About window opens. This dialog box contains the Support tab where the technical support web site containing a link to online help version can be found. Go to the specified web site and open online help system.

2. Go to the Search tab. Tab view in online help system (left) and in local help system (right):

3. Enter the phrase to search into the search field.

4. Specify additional search options in the online help:

• To highlight found phrases on the page, select the Highlight Search Results checkbox.

• To limit the number of search results displayed on the Search tab, use the Search Results per Page box.

5. Execute search:

• In the local help. Press the ENTER key or click the List Topics button.

• In the online help. Press the ENTER key or click the button.

The search is executed. Search results are displayed on the Search tab. The online help displays search results in descending order of their correspondence to the string to search; the local help displays search results in alphabetic order.

To search for words and phrases, enter required words into the search field.

Example:

Phrase to search	Result
objects	The pages containing the word "objects" are found.
formatting parameters	The pages containing the both words: "parameters" and "formatting", as well as the pages containing either the word "parameters" of the word "formatting" are found.

To search for a precise phrase, quote the phrase.

Example:

To manage whether separate words or phrases are included into search results, use logical operators AND, OR and NOT.

NOTE. Logical operators must be written in the upper case.

In order the search result contains:

• All words and phrases. Use the AND operator.

• At least one word or phrase. Use the OR operator.

• Should not contain certain word or phrase. Use the NOT operator.

Example:

dimension AND synchronization	The pages containing the words "dimension" and "synchronization" are found.
dimension OR synchronization	The pages containing both words "dimension" and "synchronization" or any of these words are found.
dimension NOT synchronization	The pages containing the word "synchronization" and not the word "dimension" are found.

To create composite queries with the use of logical operators, group words and phrases by enclosing them in parentheses.

NOTE. This feature is available only in the online help.

Example:

Phrase to search	Result
(follow OR hyperlink) AND report	The pages are found that contain: The words "follow" and "report". The words "hyperlink" and "report". The words "hyperlink", "follow" and "report".

To search for words by the specified mask, use characters:

• "*". Means any number of any characters in this position.

• "?". Means any character in this position.

It is available to use several mask characters in the query at the same time.

NOTE. Mask search is no supported if whole phrase is searched.

Example:

Phrase to search	Result
system*	The pages beginning with "system" are found. For example: system, systematic, and so on.
system?	The pages containing the words beginning with "system" and one more character are found. For example: system, systems, and so on.

To search for words placed at a certain distance from each other, specify the distance: ~N, where N is a maximum required number of places between words (distance). The words, between which distance is specified, should be enclosed in double quotation marks.

NOTE. This feature is available only in the online help.

Example:

Phrase to search	Result
"follow hyperlink"~3	The pages containing no more than 3 words between the words "follow" and "hyperlink" are found. These words can be in any form. For example: "follow the hyperlink", "the specified hyperlink is missing", and so on.

To manage position of search results, specify the significance: ^K, where K is significance coefficient. The higher is the significance coefficient, the higher is the page position in search results. By default, all significance coefficients in queries are considered to be equal to 1.

NOTE. This feature is available only in the online help.

Example:

Phrase to search	Result
"import^3 cube"	The pages containing the words "import" and "cube" in any form are found. The first pages found will contain the largest number of the word "import".
