The Time Series Analysis tool is used to manage and analyze statistical data.
A time series is an aggregate of series observations. It is characterized by the unique set of attribute values. Each observation contained by the series is named a series point. It is characterized by the observation time, its value, and a set of additional characteristics.
Time series are stored in a special database, which is named a time series database (or shortly time series DB). A time series database is an repository object that is created from the object navigator.
When a time series database is created, an internal modeling container is created, which stores all transformations of the time series. Unlike in a standard modeling container, the models are based on unique attributes of the time series database instead of the modeling variables. The unique attribute is an obligatory attribute of the Reference Dictionary type. In other aspects, working with an internal modeling container is similar to working with a standard modeling container.
Time series analysis is performed as follows:
Creating a time series database. Performed by the wizard started from the object navigator.
Filling time series database with data for analysis. Performed by the import object: data is loaded from the external source.
Time series analysis. Performed in the Time Series Analysis tool.
The Time Series Analysis tool provides the user with the following features:
Data validation is checking of time series data for correspondence with specified conditions and constraints.
Version control is saving changes to the version history of the time series data.
Converting data using various mathematical methods and modeling methods.
Creating and editing workbooks, in which all transformations of the time series are saved.
Selecting measurement units, in which time series data is displayed.
Applying advanced analytics.
Data import. Supported data sources: time series databases, OLE database, clipboard; Microsoft Excel, XML, TXT, CSV files; Microsoft Access databases.
Data export. Supported data consumers: OLE DB; Microsoft Excel, XML, TXT, CSV files; Microsoft Access databases.
