Setting Up Legend

TIP. To quickly set up legend format, use the Legend tab of the side panel.

The Legend tab of the Chart Parameters dialog box and the General tab of the Legend Format dialog box enable the user to determine the following legend settings:

To display legend:

Select the required legend position in the drop-down menu of the Legend button in the View group of the Chart ribbon tab.
Select the Display Legend checkbox on the Legend tab of the Chart Parameters dialog box.

To hide legend:

Select the icon in the Legend button drop-down menu in the View group of the Chart ribbon tab.
Deselect the Display Legend checkbox on the Legend tab of the Chart Parameters dialog box.

To change legend position:

Select the appropriate radio button on the Legend tab of the Chart Parameters dialog box.
Click the Legend button in the View group on the Chart ribbon tab and select the position option: above the area, below the area, left, right, bottom left, top left, bottom right, top right or hide the legend (indicated with the icon).

To automatically position the legend, select the Position Automatically checkbox on the General tab of the Legend Format dialog box. When the checkbox is selected, the legend is automatically positioned at the chart area bottom.

To wrap words in the legend, select the checkbox:

Word Wrap on the Legend tab of the Chart Parameters dialog box.
Word Wrap on the Alignment tab of the Legend Format dialog box.

NOTE. Text in Chinese is wrapped by hieroglyphs.

The following parameters can be set up for a legend:

Legend area borders and fill.
Legend text font.
Legend text alignment.

To set up legend format, use the Legend Format dialog box.
