Setting Up Conditional Formatting (Time Series Analysis)

Conditional formatting is a formatting that is used at the specified condition performance only. It ensures visual data presentation during analysis.

Conditional formatting is applied to the whole data table and can consist of several conditions, for example:

Settings for different types of conditional formatting (color schemes, color scales, icons, histograms) overlap each other.

Performing Conditional Formatting

The tab enables the user to create, edit, set up application order and delete formatting conditions.

To display the tab:

Select a table.
Select the Format radio button on the side panel.
Go to the Conditional Formatting tab.

Tab look depends on the formatting condition to set up, for example:

The button enables the user to quickly perform conditional formatting, edit and delete created conditions.

The Conditional Formatting button is located on the Table ribbon tab. The tab is available if some table element is selected.

The button contains a menu with the following conditional formatting types:

Color scales:

Histograms:

Icons:

This dialog box enables the user to create, edit, set up application order and delete formatting conditions.

NOTE. The option is available only in the desktop application.

To show the dialog box:

Select a table.
Click the Conditional Formatting button on the Table ribbon tab.
In the menu that opens select the Edit Conditions item.

Operations with Formatting Conditions

To create a formatting condition, select a table, then:

Go to the Conditional Formatting side panel tab and click the Add button. The tab displays parameters of created condition setup.
Select formatting type in the drop-down menu of the Conditional Formatting button on the ribbon. The selected formatting is applied to the selected table area.
Open the Edit Conditions dialog box and click the Add button. The Formatting Condition Parameters dialog box opens, in which set up the created formatting condition.

NOTE. The Edit Conditions dialog box is available only in the desktop application.

To edit a formatting condition:

Select the table, for which conditional formatting is set up.
Go to the Conditional Formatting side panel tab.
Select the required condition.

Condition parameters are displayed on the tab.

Methods for editing a formatting condition, available only in the desktop application:

Select the table, for which conditional formatting is set up.
Open:

The Conditional Formatting side panel tab.
The Editing Conditions dialog box.

Select the required condition and:

Double-click on it with the main button of the mouse.
Select the Edit item in the condition's context menu.
Click the Edit button. The method is available only in the Edit Conditions dialog box.

The Formatting Condition Parameters dialog box opens, in which set up a formatting condition. The dialog box enables the user to set up all formatting conditions, except for fill by cell groups based on their values.

Formatting conditions are applied in the order, in which they are located on the Conditional Formatting side panel tab or in the Edit Conditions dialog box. The order of conditions on the side panel tab matches that in the dialog box.

To reorder formatting conditions:

Select the table, for which conditional formatting is set up.
Open:

The Conditional Formatting side panel tab.
The Edit Conditions dialog box. The dialog box is available only in the desktop application.

Select the required condition and use the and buttons.
The desktop application allows for additional methods to be used:

Select the Up or Down items in the condition's context menu.
Hold down the main button of the mouse and drag the condition to the required position.
Press ALT + ↓to move the condition one position down, or ALT + ↑to move the condition one position up.

To delete a formatting condition:

Select the table, for which conditional formatting is set up.
Open:

The Conditional Formatting side panel tab.
The Edit Conditions dialog box. The dialog box is available only in the desktop application.

Click the Add button.
The desktop application allows for additional methods to be used:

Select the Delete item in the condition's context menu.
Press the DELETE key.

The selected formatting condition is deleted.

To delete all formatting conditions:

Select the table, to which conditional formatting is set up.
Select the Clear item in the drop-down menu of the Conditional Formatting button on the Table ribbon tab.

Formatting conditions are deleted.
