Applying Group of Elements

Applying a group of elements is available in regular reports, information panels, express reports, dashboards.

A group of elements is a repository object used in dictionaries to limit available elements. Groups of elements are created as dictionary child elements and are not shown in the object navigator. Groups of elements can be set up on the Groups of Elements page in the dictionary wizard.

A group of elements is applied as filter to show or hide dimension elements:

In regular reports:

In the web application on the selection panel.
In the desktop application on the Selection group of tabs on the side panel.

In information panels on the Dimension Filter panel.
In express reports and dashboards on the Selection group of tabs on the side panel.

To filter dimension elements using a group of elements:

In regular reports:

In the web application select a group of elements in the drop-down list of the Select Group item and select the Select > Filter Elements checkbox in the dimension element's context menu on the selection panel.
In the desktop application:

Select the Group of Elements > <name of group of elements> item in the dimension element's context menu on the Selection group of tabs on the side panel.
Select the group of Elements > <name of group of elements> item in the drop-down menu of the Settings button located below the dimension name in the Selection group of tabs on the side panel.
Select group of elements in the drop-down menu of the Group of Elements button on the Hierarchy ribbon tab.

In information panels select a group of elements in the drop-down list of the Select Group item and select the Select Group > Filter Elements checkbox in the dimension element's context menu on the Dimension Filter panel.
In express reports and dashboards:

Select the Group of Elements > <name of group of elements> item in the dimension element's context menu on the Selection group of tabs on the side panel.
Select the group of Elements > <name of group of elements> item in the drop-down menu of the Settings button located below the dimension name in the Selection group of tabs on the side panel.
Select a group of elements in the drop-down menu of the Group of Elements button on the Hierarchy ribbon tab.

To reset filter and display all dimension elements:

In regular reports in the web application and information panels deselect the Filter Elements checkbox.
In regular reports in the desktop application, express reports and dashboards select the Reset item.

When working with dimension elements one can create groups by selected elements, edit groups of elements, and select groups of elements.
