Adding Sources

If a XLSX file is loaded, the first page of the loading wizard opens:

Set the parameters:

• Decimal Separator. In the drop-down list select decimal separator character.

• First Row with Headers. The switch is active by default. Toggle the switch to inactive state if the first file row does not contain headers.

• Document Sheets. All sheets are selected by default. If required, deselect checkboxes of the unnecessary sheets.

• Combine Files. Toggle the switch to active state if it is required to combine data of two or more loaded files with equal format and structure. The switch is inactive by default.

NOTE. File setup parameters are available if the Combine Files switch is inactive. If the Combine Files switch is active, only the Combined File (<number of files>) name is displayed.

To load more files, click the Load Files button.

To delete the selected file, hover the cursor over it and click the Delete button.

Click the Next button to open the second page of the loading wizard:

The second page of the loading wizard contains displays the sheets specified in Document Sheets list on the first page of the wizard.

If the Combine Files switch was toggled to active state on the previous page of the loading wizard, the second page of the wizard will display the Combined File (<number of files>) name and the drop-down list with sheets with specified names of source files, from which data was obtained, instead of the Loaded Files title and the drop-down list with file names.

Set up names and types of fields in corresponding columns for the sheet selected in the Sheet drop-down list. If the real field type is selected, set the number of displayed decimal places in the edit box or using the buttons. The number of decimal places is displayed as in the source by default.

NOTE. Click the Restore Original Data Type button if it is required to set the original data type for the field.

If a CSV file is loaded, the first page of the loading wizard opens:

• First Row with Headers. The switch is active by default. Toggle the switch to inactive state if the first file row does not contain headers.

• Encoding. Select file text encoding method in the drop-down list.

• Text Qualifier. Select file field qualifier character in the drop-down list.

• Decimal Separator. In the drop-down list select decimal separator character.

• Column Delimiter. Select file column delimiter character in the drop-down list.

• Combine Files. Toggle the switch to active state if it is required to combine data of two or more loaded files with equal format and structure. The switch is inactive by default.

NOTE. File setup parameters are available if the Combine Files switch is inactive. If the Combine Files switch is active, only the Combined File (<number of files>) name is displayed.

To load more files, click the Load Files button.

To delete the selected file, hover the cursor over it and click the Delete button.

Click the Next button to open the second page of the loading wizard:

If the Combine Files switch was toggled to active state on the previous page of the loading wizard, the second page of the loading wizard will display the Combined File (<number of files>) name instead of the Loaded Files title and the drop-down list with file names.

NOTE. Click the Restore Original Data Type button if it is required to set the original data type for the field.

Enter server alias.

Set database name. The box is available if the Microsoft SQL DBMS or PostgreSQL DBMS type is selected.

Specify custom schema identifier to use it in database. The dbo schema is used for Microsoft SQL DBMS, and the public schema is used for PostgreSQL DBMS.

Toggle the switch to active state to work with objects and their fields in DBMS with different character case in their physical names. The parameter is used on granting permissions at DBMS level and is taken into account on connection and operations with database. The switch is available if the Microsoft SQL DBMS or PostgreSQL DBMS type is selected.

Enter user data to connect to database:

• Login. Enter name of the user who is a database owner.

• Password. Enter user password to access DBMS.

To create a new connection:

1. Click the button:

• Add if the Preconfigured Connections tab does not contain previously added connections.

• Add Connection on the Connections panel if the list of templates contains connections.

2. Enter connection name if required. The default name is Connection N, where N - template number in the list.

NOTE. One can create equal names for different templates.

3. Determine connection settings.

After executing the operations a new connection with specified settings is added.

After creating a new connection, system administrators can set up access permissions for preconfigured connections.

To quickly search for a connection template, click the Find button and start typing template name in the box.

To edit connection name:

1. Open the connection name for edit:

• Select the Rename item in the drop-down menu of the Actions button of the connection.

• Click the main mouse button on the connection name.

2. Set a new connection name.

3. To save the name, press the ENTER key or click outside the name edit box.

After executing the operations the connection template is renamed.

To duplicate a connection template, select the Duplicate item in the drop-down menu of the Actions button of the connection. When creating a duplicate the system copies name and settings of the source connection, except for user authentication parameters.

To check preconfigured connection without adding a data source on the Source panel in the project, click the Check Connection button.

To delete the connection template, select the Delete item in the drop-down menu of the Actions button of the template. After confirming the operation the selected connection template is deleted.

NOTE. The connection template used in the project cannot be deleted.
