Working with Clipboard

To copy an object to clipboard:

In the web application:

Select the Copy item in the object's context menu.
Press CTRL+C.

In the desktop application:

Click the Copy button in the Clipboard group on the Home ribbon tab in the desktop application.
Select the Copy item in the object's context menu.
Press CTRL+C or CTRL+INSERT.

NOTE. When an object is copied, its permissions are not copied.

To copy calculation algorithms the user should have the Access to Update Manager privilege.

If an object is a link to data tables (views, MDM dictionaries, modeling containers, factors catalog), the user can copy only object metadata or both metadata and data:

To copy metadata, select the Copy > Without Data item in the object's context menu.
To copy metadata and data, select the Copy > With Data item in the object's context menu.

NOTE. When a shortcut to any MDM dictionary is copied, an empty object is created.

To cut an object to clipboard:

In the web application:

Select the Cut item in the object's context menu.
Press CTRL+X.

In the desktop application:

Click the Cut button in the Clipboard group on the Home ribbon tab.
Select the Cut item in the object's context menu.
Press CTRL+X or SHIFT+DELETE.

After executing one of the operations the object is cut to clipboard.

To move an object to a container object, drag it.

To paste an object from clipboard:

In the web application:

Select the Paste item in the object navigator's context menu.
Press CTRL+V.

In the desktop application:

Click the Paste button in the Clipboard group on the Home ribbon tab.
Select the Paste item in the object navigator's context menu.
Press CTRL+V or SHIFT+INSERT.

After executing one of the operations on object copying in the desktop application, the Insert Object - Parameters dialog box opens. If required, set a new name and a new unique identifier of object in the dialog box. Identifier can have only Latin letters, numbers and underline character. In the web application the object is automatically assigned a new identifier, object name does not change.

NOTE. It is available only in the desktop application.

To create an object shortcut:

Copy the required object to clipboard.
Select the Insert Shortcut context menu item.
If required, set a new name and a new unique identifier of object. The identifier should consist of only Latin letters, numbers and underline character.

An object, for which data is taken from the copied object, is created in the object navigator.

NOTE. Some commands may be unavailable because the access permissions are missing.
