Working with Modeling Scenarios (Web Application)

A modeling scenario is an object that is used to create a series in the output variable, to which data is saved when the calculation is executed.

The Modeling and Forecasting tool offers the user several modes to work with scenarios:

To toggle between the modes, use the Use Scenario Modeling checkbox on the Interface tab of the Parameters dialog box:

NOTE. If the Use Scenario Modeling checkbox is not available, the model contains the criterion function, which is calculated by means of scenario modeling.

Scenarios Control

Make sure that the Use Scenario Modeling checkbox is selected on the Interface tab of the Parameters dialog box. Then:

Click the Scenarios Control button on the Home ribbon tab.
Click the Scenarios Control button in the Scenarios drop-down list on the Calculation ribbon tab.

The dialog box contains all modeling scenarios created by the user. If the scenario checkbox is selected, it is available at model calculation. For example:

To create a modeling scenario:

Click the Add button. A box is shown where the user should enter scenario name.
Set scenario name.
Press the ENTER key or click empty space in the dialog box.

A new scenario is added to the end of the list.

To include scenario into model calculation, select the checkbox that corresponds to the scenario in the Show column.

To include all scenarios into model calculation, select the Show checkbox.

Scenarios with selected checkboxes are shown in the Scenarios list of the Calculation ribbon tab.

To rename the selected scenario:

Click the Rename button or double-click the scenario. Scenario name switches into the edit mode.
Rename the scenario.
Press the ENTER key or click empty space in the dialog box.

The following methods of scenario copying are available:

Standard. Click the Save Scenario Copy button on the Calculation ribbon tab. The dialog box opens:

Select the copied scenario in the Source Scenario box. Set name of the scenario copy in the New Scenario box.

Extended. Only the scenarios used in calculation can be copied.

To create a copy of the selected scenario, click the Copy button in the Scenarios Control dialog box. The dialog box opens:

Set copy parameters:

SScenario. Select scenario to be copied. The list contains all scenarios included into model calculation.
Copy To. Specify where to copy the scenario:

New Scenario. Specify name of the new scenario. By default, the name is generated according to the schema: <Copied scenario name> Copy.
Current Scenarios. The list contains all scenarios included into modeling problem calculation. Select checkboxes of the scenarios, which data should be copied to a source scenario. All scenarios are selected by default. To select or deselect all scenarios, select or deselect the Name checkbox.

Copy Data to Variables. The list contains all variables used in the modeling problem. Select checkboxes of the variables, which data should be copied to a new scenario. All scenarios are selected by default. To select or deselect all scenarios, select or deselect the Name checkbox.

Copy of the created scenario is automatically included into model calculation.

To delete the scenario:

Select the scenario.
Click the Delete button.

NOTE. A scenario cannot be deleted if it is used in model calculation. To delete the scenario from calculation, deselect the Show checkbox that corresponds to the scenario.

To reorder scenarios in the list, use the Up and Down buttons.

If the model contains a criterion function, the Scenarios Control dialog box contains advanced parameters to select scenarios of criterion function calculation:

Set appropriate scenarios. The selected scenarios are available in the Scenarios Control dialog box.

NOTE. Criterion function scenario and trajectory are available if trajectory is set for criterion function.
