Truncate

Tool interfaces in the web application and in the desktop application are identical, and differences in functionality are given in appropiate commments.

Truncate

The method truncates series by the specified parameters. It is included in the group of functions that perform transformations on series.

Select one or more series in the data table.
Select the Time > Truncate item in the drop-down menu of the Transformations tab on the Calculations ribbon tab.

Set calculation period start point. To do this, select calculation method for the period start date in the drop-down list:

Start of Data +/-. Calculation period start data is equal to the first actual date of the input series plus the number of periods specified in the value editor.
Specific Date. Calculation period start date is equal to the date specified in the date editor.
Today +/-. Calculation period start data is equal to the actual date plus the number of periods specified in the value editor.
From Calculation End. Calculation period start date is equal to the end date of the calculation period minus the number of periods defined in the value editor.

Specify calculation period end point. To do this, select the method of calculating the end date of the period in the drop-down list:

Display Period End. The calculation end date is equal to the end date of the workbook data display period.
Specific Date. Calculation period end date is equal to the date specified in the date editor.
End of Data +/-. Calculation period end date is equal to the last actual date of the input series plus the number of periods specified in the value editor.
Today +/-. Calculation period end date is equal to the actual date plus the number of periods specified in the value editor.
From Calculation Start. The calculation end date is equal to the start date of the calculation period plus the number of periods specified in the value editor.

After the method is applied, in the workbook, based on each selected series a calculated series with a name of the Truncate(<Series_Name>) type is created, containing the truncate results. For example:

Make sure that the side panel is displayed.
Select the series calculated by the Truncate method in the data table.
Select the Series radio button on the side panel.
Go to the Calculation Periods tab.

All the settings on this tab are similar to the settings in the Truncate dialog box described above.
