Setting Up Data Format

Select data, row or column, dimension, level, or total.
Go to the Data group of tabs of the side panel, which is available on selecting data, and select the Formatting or Data Formatting tab.

NOTE. When table elements are selected, the Table group of tabs on the side panel is renamed according to the selected element:
    • Header. When sidehead or heading is selected.
    • Corner. When corner is selected.
    • Table. When data cell or whole table is selected.
    • Data. When all data cells are selected.
    • Format. When a whole column or row is selected.
    • Level. When dimension level element names are selected.
    • Dimension. When dimension element names are selected.
    • Totals. When totals cells, columns or rows are selected.

Select one of the supported data formats in the drop-down list. Depending on the selected format, different settings are available:

Equal to canceling formatting.

The default format. If the Number format is selected, the following settings are available:

Decimal Places. It sets the number of places after the point.
Thousands Separator. When the checkbox is selected, thousands separators (spaces) will be displayed.
Negative Numbers. Select the type of display of negative numbers.

If the Currency format is selected, the following settings are available:

Decimal Places. It sets the number of places after the point.
Symbol. It sets currency symbol.
Negative Numbers. Select the type of display of negative numbers.

Output format depends on the current regional settings of operating system.

If the Date format is selected, the following settings are available:

Select the date format in the Type list.

If the Time format is selected, the following settings are available:

Select the time format in the Type list.

If the Percentage format is selected, the following settings are available:

Set the number of places after the point.

If the percentage format is used, the value of numbers is multiplied by 100, and the % character is added. The entered numbers in this format are worked in a different way depending on the use of the % character. For example, if the 40% number is entered, the cell shows 40% but the cell value is 0.4. If the 40 number is entered, the cell shows 4000% but the cell value is 40.

This format is used to show a number in exponential format.

If the Exponential format is selected, the following settings are available:

Set the number of decimal places.

Equal to canceling formatting. Text format is set by default for the cells that contain non-numeric values.

If the Additional format is selected, the following settings are available:

To automatically convert value, select the preset option:

Zip code.
Telephone number.
Social security number.

It contains code views of all available data formats. If no format suits you, you can add a custom one.

NOTE. The Number Format group on the Format ribbon tab is available if data is selected in the table.

- conversion to currency format. On clicking the arrow the menu to choose currency opens.

- transformation into number format and displaying the thousands separator with two digits after the comma.

- decreasing/increasing number bitness. This is used to display less/more precise values.

NOTE. Table element formatting is applied according to formatting order and can be overlapped by other formatting.
