Setting Up Dimension Visibility

Showing or hiding dimensions creates the data source structure, which determines active visualizer appearance. Visualizer data source structure setup can be used to set dimensions available for the user and set names of attributes displayed in the visualizer.

Make sure that a cube, in which one or several dimensions have a configured alternative hierarchy based on attributes, is used as a data source. The data source should be based on one cube. Data sources that are based on two or more cubes do not support the option.
Execute one of the operations:

in regular reports click the Set up Dimension Visibility button in the Dimensions area on the side panel.
In express reports and dashboards click the Structure and Parameters button on the Data ribbon tab.

The dimensions, for which alternative hierarchies are set up and alternative hierarchy names are displayed as a tree, which is collapsed by default. The expanded tree displays dictionaries/dictionary attributes used as alternative hierarchies, and alternative hierarchies themselves.

To create additional dimensions, select checkboxes next to attributes/alternative hierarchies. The obtained additional dimensions can be used as an alternative hierarchy. This option is available if the following is set up for one or several dimensions:

Alternative hierarchy based on attributes for standard cube dimensions, dictionary attributes can be used as single dimensions.
Alternative hierarchy for ADOMD cube dimensions, alternative hierarchies can be used as single dimensions.

As a result, new dimensions are created with the default names: Dimension name. Attribute name/Alternative hierarchy name.

The dimension/alternative hierarchy that is the first in the list of attributes is added to the same layout option as the main dimension. The rest of the additional dimensions are located in fixed ones or in filter in source if such layout option is available for the data source.

If a control is added for the additional dimension in regular report, after deleting the additional dimension one should edit the control.

Constraints when working with additional dimensions:

Selection schemas cannot be used.
Groups of elements cannot be used.
Alternative hierarchy cannot be used.
Editing dimensions is unavailable.
One cannot use grouping in regular reports.

To show or hide dimensions:

In the Set up Dimension Visibility dialog box select or deselect checkboxes next to dimensions in the Show column.
On the Data source Structure in the Structure and Parameters dialog box select or deselect checkboxes next to dimensions on the Show Dimensions. To select all dimensions, select the Dimension checkbox. If several data sources are used, the Source drop-down list is displayed to toggle between data sources.

The checkboxes are selected by default, and all dimensions are shown. Hidden dimensions will be shown in the table with the same selection as before hiding.

Showing or hiding data source names is available only on the Data Source Structure tab in the Structure and Parameters dialog box if the table contains several data sources.

To show or hide data source names in table, use the Show Source Names area. The area contains the Source Name checkbox and the list of used data sources below:

Select the Source Name checkbox to show all source names, and checkboxes of all source names will be selected.
Select checkboxes next to names of the required data sources to show names of single data sources.

The checkboxes are selected by default, and names of all data sources are shown in the table.

Selecting selection type of calendar dimensions is available only on the Data Source Structure tab in the Structure and Parameters dialog box.

To select the selection type that will be used in the Selection group of tabs, select the calendar dimension and use the drop-down list in the Selection Type column:

By Elements Only. Calendar elements are shown.
By Levels Only. Calendar levels are shown.
By Elements and Levels. Calendar elements and levels are shown.
