To work with the tool in Foresight Analytics Platform 10, use the new interface.

Setting Up Custom Layout

Custom layout setting is required if the user needs to show dimension elements in a custom order and/or with custom names.

Parameters of custom layout of data area rows and columns are the same, but they are set on different pages.

NOTE. This setting has a higher priority and may override other layout settings.

The heading is created for the dimension shown in columns. The sidehead is created for the dimension shown in rows.

To create a custom header (heading and sidehead) and calculated elements for the data area, go to the Layout > Rows/Columns > Dimension > Set Up Layout tab. The Data Area Properties dialog box looks as follows:

If the Enable Custom Layout checkbox is selected, it is available to set up displaying of header (sidehead or heading) and add calculated elements.

NOTE. The Formatting set for a custom header is also applied to cells of data area level.

If the Hide Dimension Elements if They are not Used in the Selection checkbox is selected, the only headers are output in the data area that have selection in the slice. When the checkbox is deselected, the data area shows the created header regardless of the available selection. And the data for header elements, selection for which is not available in the slice, is not shown.

Select the Add Selected Elements which are not Used in the Layout checkbox to output headers of the elements into the data area, by which custom name is not formed, but they have selection in the slice.

Creating a Header Using Dimension Elements

To create a header using dimension elements shown in the Dimension Elements area, select the required elements, and:

NOTE. If several elements are selected in the list, on double-click on any element the previous selection is cleared, and the current element is selected and moved to the Sidehead Layout/Heading Layout area.

Operations with Dimension Elements

The following operations are available when a header is created using dimension elements shown in the Dimension Elements area:

To change selection for all dimension elements, select the Select All or Deselect All context menu item in the Dimension Elements area.

To change selection for all elements at the same level with specified dimension element, select the Select Level or Deselect Level context menu item of the element.

To select descendants of the specified dimension element, select the Select Descendants context menu item of the dimension parent element in the Dimension Elements area.

To select dimension element descendants in the hierarchy, select the Select All Descendants context menu item of the dimension parent element in the Dimension Elements area.

To deselect child elements and descendants of the specified selection elements, select the Deselect Descendants context menu item of the parent dimension element in the Dimension Elements area.

To copy elements selection to clipboard:

Select the Copy context menu item.
Press CTRL+C or CTRL+INSERT.

To paste elements selection from clipboard:

Select the Paste context menu item.
Press CTRL+V or SHIFT+INSERT.

Selection pasted from the clipboard replaces the current selection in the dimension. To add more elements to the existing selection, hold down the CTRL key while executing the command.

To determine the attribute that is used to name dimension elements, select the Name context menu item of the Dimension Elements area.

To select a group of elements, select the Group of Elements context menu item of the Dimension Elements area.

NOTE. The command is available if are set up for the dimension.

To select an alternative hierarchy, select the Alternative Hierarchy context menu item of the Dimension Elements area.

NOTE. The command is available if an alternative hierarchy is set up for the dimension.

To expand the list hierarchy, select the Expand All context menu item of the Dimension Elements area.

To collapse the list hierarchy, select the Collapse All context menu item of the Dimension Elements area.

To change extended selection of a dimension element, select the Advanced Selection context menu item of the Dimension Elements area and select the required menu option:

Select level.
Deselect level.
Apply selection schema.
Select group.
Select hierarchy.

These commands are identical to the commands described above.

Operations with Header Elements

The following operations are available when working with header elements in the Sidehead Layout/Heading Layout area:

To add a new header element:

Click the button.
Press the INSERT key.

To add a header element not linked to a dimension element, select the Add Item context menu item in the Sidehead Layout/Heading Layout area.

NOTE. A position is reserved when filtering empty elements for the layout elements not linked to a dimension. Other elements are hidden during filtering.

To add a child element not linked to a dimension element to a focused element, select the Add Subelement context menu item of the Sidehead Layout/Heading Layout area.

Elements are added according to the following rules:

If the list does not contain selected element or more than one elements is selected, the new element is added to the end of the list.
If a single element is selected, the new element is added to the same level after the selected one.

To rename a header element, execute one of the following operations:

Double-click the element.
Select the Edit context menu item.

After this type in a new name for the header element.

To set formula of a calculated header element:

Click the button.
Select the element and press F4.

After this the Element Properties dialog box opens.

To delete the selected header element:

Click the button.
Press the DELETE key.
Select the Delete context menu item of the header element.

After any executing any of the operations a confirmation dialog box opens.

When a parent header element is deleted, all child element names are also deleted.

To move focus in the dimension elements tree to the element linked to header element (if there is any), select the Show in Dimension context menu item of the header element.

To reorder header elements:

Drag the element (A). When dragging the element (A) to the position of another element (B) of the same level or one level above while holding down the SHIFT key, the element (A) becomes a child element together with all its child elements. If the SHIFT key is not used while dragging the element, the element (A) is placed on the same level with the element (B) together with all its child elements. The selected elements placed at the same level can also be dragged with the SHIFT key held down.

Select the context menu item:

Up.
Down.
One level up.
One level down.

All commands are implemented for the number of selected elements if they have the common parent and they are located at the same level.

Click the appropriate button:

. To move header element up.

. To move header element down.

. To move header element one level up.

. To move header element one level down.

On clicking the Prohibit Custom Layout of Dimension Elements button, the elements linked to dimension elements can no longer be moved, and the elements are automatically arranged in accordance with their positions in dimension. If auto arrangement is enabled, the elements that are not linked to a dimension element, are arranged at the source level after the layout element, after which they were initially added to the custom layout.

To expand or collapse the list hierarchy, select the Expand All or Collapse All item in the Sidehead Layout/Heading Layout area.

To disable movement for the elements linked to dimension elements, select the Prohibit Custom Layout of Dimension Elements item in the element's context menu.

After this the elements are automatically arranged in accordance with their positions in dimension.

To set up format of the header or data, select the Set Up Header Formatting or Set Up Data Formatting context menu item of the header element in the Sidehead Layout/Heading Layout area.

After this the standard Cell Format dialog box opens for setting up header or data style.

To clear formatting, select the Clear context menu item of the header element, and select the formatting to clear: header or data.

Data in the Sidehead Layout/Heading Layout area is shown as a table.

To show or hide columns, click the button in the Sidehead Layout/Heading Layout area and execute one of the operations:

Select or deselect appropriate checkboxes. Select or deselect appropriate checkboxes in the drop-down menu of the button.
Select the Select Columns item. The Select Columns to Display dialog box opens:

In the dialog box that opens select and deselect appropriate checkboxes to show or hide columns. To select checkboxes for all columns, click the Select All button. To deselect checkboxes for all columns, click the Deselect All button.

The columns can also be moved with special buttons (see below).

The columns to display contain the following information:

Cell formatting. Fill color, frame, font style, and text alignment.
Cell text. If a style is selected, style name is specified, otherwise font options are specified (name, size, font style).

Common Operations

Depending on the currently focused area (Dimension Elements or Sidehead Layout/Heading Layout), the following operation is available when working with dimension elements:

To search for an element in the tree of dimension elements, or to search for any header element, press F3 or CTRL+F.

NOTE. The search dialog box is opened for whichever tree has active focus.

After executing one of the operations the Search Element dialog box opens.

To search for an element in the tree, starting with the currently selected element, click the Find Next button. Click the button again to move focus to the next found element.

The combobox contains the search history.
