Setting Up Data Area Formatting

To determine formatting parameters for data area cells, slice dimensions and levels, go to the Formatting tab of the Data Area Properties dialog box.

TIP. Cell formatting can also be set up by means of commands in the drop-down menu of the Cell Styles button in the Table Style group on the Home tab. The setup is similar to formatting setup for table visualizer.

To set up formatting of slice dimension levels, make sure that the dictionary, where the cube that is the source for data area is set up, contains the levels:

The Formatting tab is used to determine general formatting parameters of the data area: format of table corner, column headers (heading), row headers (sidehead), data, and changed data. These are default settings that can be redetermined for any level of any data area dimension.

NOTE. Formatting parameters of the cells linked to dimensions, have a higher priority. Thus, they may override general formatting parameters of the area that contains these cells (rows or columns).

Determine formatting for the table corner (intersection of row and column headers).

If the table corner contains several rows or columns and the checkbox is selected, cells of the table corner are merged into one. Also, table corner may display any expression including expressions calculated by a formula. To do this, select the Edit Text context menu item of the Sample field in the Table Corner area. A dialog box opens where the required text or formula can be entered.

NOTE. If a number of dimensions are added to the rows or columns, the formatting is set up for an entire header.

On working with data area data it is available both to set up data and changed data, for example, enter a new value into a cell.

Set table data area formatting and formatting of the cells, in which data is modified, in the corresponding boxes.

The group of parameters contains alternating table style settings. Click the Set Up button to set up style properties. The Alternating Styles Table Properties dialog box opens.

By default, the data area uses formatting defined in its parameters. In cases when it is necessary to use a predefined sheet formatting, select the Use Existing Sheet Formatting checkbox. In this case formatting settings selected in the data area are ignored.

NOTE. To add external borders for the data area, select the Use Existing Sheet Formatting checkbox, and predefine the formatting in the Font group of the Home ribbon tab.
