The Levels Page: MDM Dictionary

Aggregation is calculation of data of the upper level based on the data of the lower level. For example, calculated monthly data is summed to get quarterly data.

NOTE. Each created level must correspond to the actual level of the MDM dictionary elements hierarchy.

If this dictionary is used as a cube dimension, aggregation can be set up. For example, values for the states can be summed up to get values for the whole continent.

Creating and setting up levels differs in the web application and in the desktop application.

Web application Desktop application

To create and set up dictionary levels use the Levels page of the dictionary structure setup wizard:

To create and set up dictionary levels use the Levels tab on the Description tab in the MDM dictionary window opened for edit.

Operations with Levels

To add a level:

In the web application click the Add button. A string is added to the end of the list, the string contains level name. The default name: Level<Number>.
In the desktop application:

Click the Add button.
Select the Add item in the context menu on free area of the Levels tab.
Double-click the empty area of the Levels tab.

The New Level dialog box opens:

Specify name of the created level.

To edit properties of the selected dictionary level:

In the web application change name in the corresponding column of the required level on the Levels page of the MDM dictionary wizard.
In the desktop application:

Click the Edit button.
Select the Edit item in the level's context menu.
Double-click the level name.

Enter the new level name in the Rename Level dialog box. The Rename Level dialog box is the same as the New Level dialog box.

To delete the selected level:

In the web application click the Delete button.
In the desktop application:

Click the Delete button.
Select the Delete item in the level's context menu.
Press CTRL+DELETE.

A confirmation to execute the operation is requested.

To change the number of displayed properties in the web application, click the Settings button and select or deselect the checkbox next to property names.
