Tooltips

Tooltips show information on a data series point, level line, data series in the legend when the user hovers the cursor over the corresponding chart element.

To quickly set up tooltip format, use the Tooltips side panel tab.

The following tooltip settings are available:

Setting up tooltip displaying.
Setting up tooltip text.
Setting up tooltip format.
Setting up tooltip formatting.

To execute advanced tooltip setup for data series points, use the Tooltips tab of the Chart Parameters dialog box.

Quick Tooltip Setup

To display tooltips, select the Tooltips checkbox on the Tooltips side panel tab.

Make sure that the side panel is displayed.
Select the chart in the working area.
Select the Format radio button on the side panel and go to the Tooltips tab.

After the tooltips displaying is enabled in the chart plot area, the following operations become available:

Use the edit box on the Tooltips tab of the side panel to determine tooltip text. The edit box for tooltip text is multiline.

To edit text or add a template label to the text:

Click the Add button below the edit box.
Select a tooltip text template in the drop-down list.

NOTE. Tooltip text is determined automatically for level lines.

To set up format of data displayed in tooltips:

Select the Special Format checkbox.
Select one of the supported data formats in the drop-down list:

General.
Number.
Currency.
Date.
Time.
Percentage.
Exponential.
Text.
Additional.
Custom.

To set up tooltip font, set the following parameters:

Font. Select one of the fonts available in the operating system.
Font size. Set the required font size. The size is set in points, and it can be selected in the drop-down list or entered manually. Available values range: [1; 72].
Font style. Click the buttons that determine font style:

B. Bold.
I. Italic.
U. Underline.

When the button is pressed, the corresponding font style is used. Several styles can be used simultaneously, for example, pressed B and I buttons result in bold italic font style.

Font color. Select font color in the drop-down color palette.

The following parameters are used to set up tooltip area fill:

Fill color. Select the required fill color in the drop-down palette. To set a new fill color, click the Spectrum button in the standard color palette and select a color in the advanced color palette.

Transparency. If required, set tooltip area transparency.

To set up tooltip area borders, select the Border checkbox and set the following parameters:

Border color. Select one of the radio buttons:

Specified Color. Select the required border color in the drop-down palette. To set a new border color, click the Spectrum button in the standard color palette and select a color in the advanced color palette.
Factor Color. The radio button is selected by default. Color of tooltip area borders will match color of the data series point or level line fill.

Line. Select line type in the drop-down list.
Thickness. Set the required line thickness manually or using a value editor.

NOTE. Value input is available in different measurement units but the input box always shows the value in points (1/72 inch).
